We were honored to serve as a Silver Sponsor at this week’s Operation Helping Hands Charity Golf Tournament. OHHC provides community college housing scholarships to unhoused and housing-insecure students, so they can focus on their education. It also runs youth-powered projects that assemble and hand-deliver backpacks of hygiene items and basic necessities to neighbors in need across Southern California.

A special shoutout to colleague and friend, Kimberly Valentine Kim Valentine, founder of OHH, for building something that rallies so many people around such important work.

In this new episode of Art of Purpose, Kenny sits down with Danny Abir, managing partner of ACTS Law, one of California's largest plaintiff-only litigation firms, with more than 150 attorneys and staff and over $1 billion recovered for clients.

At 16, during the Iran-Iraq War, Danny said goodbye to his father, was placed in the care of a man he had never met, and traveled through the night with smugglers toward Pakistan before eventually making his way to the United States. Separated from his immediate family, he skipped his last two years of high school, worked full-time through college, and built a career in law, finance, and taxation. Danny opens up about the entrepreneurial instincts he had even as a kid in Iran, betting on himself to open his own practice, helping grow another plaintiff firm, and the setback in his 40s that forced him to start over.

Danny also shares what he's learned about the difference between confidence and recklessness, why every great team is built on people working in their strengths, and the mindset that has carried him through every season: whatever happens, I'll figure it out.

This conversation is about more than building a law firm. It is about resilience, risk, family, and learning to see your story differently. When Danny looks back at the hardest chapters of his life, he says he wouldn't change a single one, because every one of them led him to where he is today.

Sharon moderated and Kenny spoke alongside Marjorie Soto Garcia and Esther Estrada as we talked with law students and attorneys about how to use AI wisely in their careers and practices to better serve their clients.

Dealing with the aftermath of an accident isn’t easy, especially when you’re facing something as serious as a catastrophic injury or the loss of someone you love.

Our family serves together in our firm because this is our purpose — to help people through the hardest moments of their lives.

We read every single review, and when we do, we remember the client behind it. Their story, what they were going through when they first called us, and the difference we got to make in their life and the life of their family.

Getting to walk alongside people during something so difficult, and then seeing them come out the other side, is why we do this work.
