September is PMOS Awareness Month.

Earlier this year, polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) was renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).

PMOS affects millions of people worldwide, yet many go years without a diagnosis.

I hear from so many people in the fertility community whose stories include years of unexplained symptoms, unanswered questions, or feeling like their concerns weren’t being taken seriously, and how important it became to speak up, ask questions, and keep advocating for themselves.

I’m a lawyer and advocate, not a medical provider, so I’m going to leave the education about PMOS itself to people who know this area far better than I do. But I will say that you deserve to feel heard when you have questions about your own care. 🧡

If you want to learn more about PMOS, I’m tagging some great Instagram pages below:

And if there are any others I should know about, please list them in the comments.

My dad practiced law for 47 years.

I grew up watching how much he loved being a lawyer and how deeply he cared about the people he represented. I wanted to be like him, and that is a big part of why I became a lawyer.

He passed away this past April. Getting to share this profession with him and for him to see the lawyer I became means more to me than I can put into words.

Fertility law came after my own experience.

Going through fertility treatment changed me. It gave me a different perspective and made me want to help others navigating the same space.

I became a lawyer because I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps.

I became a fertility lawyer because, after going through it myself, I wanted to be an advocate for others.

That’s the lens I bring to this work every day. 🧡

I get asked almost daily for an update on the PGT-A lawsuits, so I wanted to share what I can.

The PGT-A cases are each in different stages of the litigation process. Depending on the case, that includes ongoing discovery, document production, depositions, motion practice, and other work.

Litigation, especially complex litigation, can move slowly from the outside. There are periods when significant work is happening behind the scenes without much we can publicly share.

If you are one of our clients and have questions about your case, please reach out to us directly.

And if you purchased PGT-A testing and have questions about the litigation, you are always welcome to reach out as well. 🧡

*Allegations only. The cases are ongoing. This is not legal advice and is for informational purposes only.

Most of the messages I get are some version of the same thing.

Something happened during someone’s fertility treatment that they don’t understand. A decision was made they have questions about. Something doesn’t add up. Or they simply walked away from a conversation feeling like they didn’t really understand what they were being told.

And so many of those messages include some version of the same question:

“Am I even allowed to ask about this?”

You are.

You are allowed to ask questions. You are allowed to ask for an explanation. You are allowed to want to understand the testing, treatment, recommendations, risks, limitations, and decisions that affect you and your care.

My inbox is open. And if you’re not ready to ask yet, that’s okay too. 🧡

After trying and trying, I was told IVF was the only chance I had to build my family. What followed wasn’t one cycle or one year. IVF became part of my life—and sometimes felt like my entire life—for years.

I did the injections. I filled the sharps containers. I sat on those tables and waited for news that could change everything. I know what it means to hand over so much trust during one of the most vulnerable times in your life.

That experience is a big part of why I do the work I do today. I’ve been the patient. And I haven’t forgotten what that feels like. If you need to hear this today: give yourself some grace. Fertility treatments are hard, no matter how strong you are. 🧡

How am I managing it all? Like many of us… by a thread. 😂 So if you’re simply holding it together today, you’re in excellent company. 🧡

How do I know if what happened needs a lawyer?

It’s a question many people are afraid to ask because they assume what happened to them isn’t “bad enough” to talk to an attorney. But you don’t have to know whether you have a legal case before you ask questions.

If something doesn’t sit right with you. If you were told one thing and something else happened. If you feel like important information was kept from you. Those are all reasons to ask questions.

You won’t regret asking, but you may regret not asking.
