I understand this is “reporting” but his legacy was FAR greater than mental health issues leading to issues with the bar - but that was necessary as the second sentence of this and the RGJ article? His death, sitting over a week, doesn’t have sentence two that he was a father of two little boys. 7 years of dedication as the longest held TPO master. People are far greater than their mental health deteriorating and their final act before that spirals to someone’s death. Have compassion for children and loved ones and recognize that perhaps not the second sentence in this announcement required negativity. Perhaps you could have waited til sentence 3.

Local attorney Lance Clark White has been confirmed dead by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, at the age of 55, with his death recorded on August 21st.

White who had been a candidate for family court judge in Washoe County’s Second Judicial District Court before dropping out had been found in contempt of the court he was running for previously twice in recent months, and twice fined $500.

On August 18, the Nevada Supreme Court had handed down an order suspending White from practicing law for six months and one day after multiple grievances against him had been looked into, which was then put on hold given certain conditions.

His website which is still active said he had “practiced as a family court master, a judicial law clerk in the family court of Washoe County, and as a litigator.”

After Our Town Reno reported about this, the RGJ followed up with its own report several hours later.

Today I mourn the loss of a colleague, a friend of two decades and reflect as we all tend to do knowing things aren’t right mentally but also in this profession, which teaches us all to turn a blind eye to feel, as the job does not allow much leeway. Trained to hide behind metaphorical thick doors as the profession does not allow for weakness. In this manner it’s difficult to know how to help our friends and colleagues in need and particularly when perhaps they don’t know or see spiral. I’ll try to do better as we all should, not brush off the weight we see us all carry in this profession and offer assistance more even when refuted. To my long time colleague and friend im sorry if there was more I could have said or done. Hopefully the weight Of life, mental struggles, and pressures has lifted. Your happy, humorous and selfless kindness will be missed.

so I rep all the kids in the child abuse cases in Churchill County. It is so sad these kids get such a rough undeserved start and sometimes entire childhood without choice. we dont have “Annie” style orphanages here. We don’t have high needs foster homes an abundance. It’s a stuck system and not being a very “emotional” kinda chick, when you’re client of 3 years gets 10 days in their “forever adoptive home” they were told but the “new parents” change their mind immediately it’s like we unintentionally tricked them or lied. They now weren’t “good enough” for their own parents and weren’t even “good enough” to be wanted for 10 days…. Idk just a devastation rant. and how people end up homeless and on drugs. This is one of the ways. You turn 18 and have no one at all in the world. what an empty loneliness I couldnt imagine and it’s you and the streets. We try and help past 18 as a system but at that age you have to know and want it. Can’t force it on them. Just a terrible cycle. Happy Friday!!
