Our client came to the U.S. as a young man ready to work. While working construction, his coworker invited him to a friend’s house to eat. The police arrived and arrested everyone. Client plead guilty to something he didn’t do. His defense attorney told him to so he can avoid going to prison. He was unaware that his plea would result in a permanent deportation. At the time of his plea he was young, working on building a life here. This was the only thing keeping him from being able to stay in the U.S. with his family. So we filed a motion to vacate pursuant to PC 1473.7(a)(1). It was granted and the charge was dismissed.
