Meet Trent Taylor!

Trent brings a rare blend of investigative expertise, real-world experience, and legal insight to his practice on the Palouse. With over two decades of investigative experience and deep understanding of the challenges clients face both inside and outside the courtroom. Originally from north Georgia, Trent is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia and spent twelve years in law enforcement, where he served as both a patrol and investigations supervisor. His work focused heavily on child abuse cases, giving him firsthand insight into some of the most sensitive and challenging aspects of the justice system.

After relocating to Ohio with his wife Jessie, a former kindergarten teacher, Trent transitioned into corporate investigations for a major retailer, covering the Midwest region. His pursuit of a new challenge led him to law school, and after a nudge from a childhood friend, he enrolled at the University of Idaho College of Law. While earning his Juris Doctororate, graduating Cum Laude, Trent continued working full-time conducting internal investigations for the university.

Trent is licensed to practice law in Idaho, with Washington State licensure to come. His practice primarily focuses on family law, and he also consults on employment matters and student conduct issues in higher education. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and grounded approach, Trent offers clients both legal clarity and compassionate advocacy. As one colleague put it, he's "anal-reTrentive,” a lighthearted nod to his precision and thoroughness.

Trent and his family have made their home in Moscow, Idaho, where two of their three children, often referred to as the "Taylor-tots" were born and now attend school. Outside of work, he is an avid runner, cheering on his kids at their sporting events, watching college football (Go Dawgs! - Georgia Bulldogs, that is), and spending time outdoors.

Trent Taylor has officially joined Boyd Law Group as our new Associate Attorney! ⚖️

Trent brings a unique mix of investigative grit, legal smarts, and Southern charm to the Palouse. With 20+ years of experience—from law enforcement in Georgia to corporate investigations across the Midwest—he’s seen it all.

He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Idaho College of Law while working full-time (because why not do both?), and now focuses on family law, employment matters, and student conduct.

He lives in Moscow with his wife Jessie and their three “Taylor-tots.” A big fan of college football- cheering on his home state team the Georgia Bulldogs (and no, we aren’t holding that against him- there are worse dawgs to root for) 🤪😂

He officially starts on October 1st and he’s excited to get started, helping you with your legal needs! Welcome, Trent!

Boyd Law Group is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of the Palouse in their Partnership with Kids initiative. As a family law firm, we're all about helping families navigate life's twists and turns, not tearing them apart. So, when we had the chance to support our local kids and strengthen our community, we were all in!

The Boys & Girls Club of the Palouse creates safe, empowering spaces for kids to learn, grow, and just be themselves. It's a place where homework gets done, friendships are built, and snack time is sacred. We're honored to play a small part in a mission that uplifts families and invests in the future.

🚩 Red Flags Aren’t Romantic 🚩
Teen dating abuse can be hard to recognize—especially when it’s disguised as love. But control is not care. Here are some red flags to watch out for:

💬 Constantly texting or calling and getting angry when you don’t respond right away
📱 Demanding your phone password or checking your messages without permission
🚗 Showing up unannounced to “check on you”
🙅‍♀️ Telling you who you can and can’t hang out with
🧠 Making you feel guilty for spending time with family or friends
😔 Putting you down, even as a "joke"
❤️ Saying “If you really loved me, you would…”
😡 Explosive tempers followed by apologies and promises to change

These are not signs of love—they're signs of power and control.

Healthy relationships are built on trust, respect, and freedom, not fear.
