Saturday roundup. Here is what the week looked like, and what we put out.
Tuesday morning was speed networking with the Lavon Area Chamber of Commerce. A few minutes with each person, and a lot more faces to go with the names up and down Main Street. Thursday we were back with the chamber for lunch, where the Lavon Police Department shared safety tips and updates for local businesses.
Wednesday I started something new. I handle car wrecks for a living, and I just got in one, so I am walking through it one day at a time in a short video series. Day 3 went up last night.
Friday the Princeton office closed for the day while I was at a hearing in Tarrant County. Our office is in Princeton. The work goes wherever the case does.
On the posts, the week came back to one question: who is actually on the other side.
1. The name on the truck door is a good place to start, and rarely the end of the list. On a commercial wreck the driver, the tractor, the trailer and the load can each belong to a different company. Photograph the door, the trailer, the plate and any paperwork somebody hands you.
2. Whoever has been answering your calls is usually not the person who decides. The useful question is a different one: who else has to approve this, and what do they need in front of them?
3. A letter from a company you have never heard of is not always junk. Read the top of the page, write down who sent it and what they say their part is, and keep both.
4. About to start working for somebody new? Ask for their certificate of insurance before the first day. It shows what is covered and puts the company's legal name in writing.
5. "I felt fine at the scene" is common, and soreness often shows up a day or two later. Get checked that same week and tell the doctor everything, including the small things.
Have a good weekend.
