The criminal case against the former San Francisco sheriff's deputy moves forward.

On August 18, the defendant pleaded not guilty in San Francisco Superior Court. A date has been set in October to schedule the preliminary hearing, which determines whether the case proceeds to trial.

Megan Burns, on behalf of our client: "After nearly a year of seeking justice for Jane Doe, we are encouraged and relieved that the San Francisco District Attorney's Office is moving forward with enforcing the law."

Our client's civil case continues alongside the criminal matter. Accountability in cases like this often moves slowly and through multiple venues at once, and we intend to see it through.

An important update in the San Francisco County Jail case.

Mirador Law partner Megan Burns attended the arraignment of the former San Francisco Sheriff's deputy who was taken into custody and is facing felony charges in connection with the s*xual assault of our client while she was incarcerated at County Jail No. 2.

Our client showed tremendous courage in coming forward. Mirador Law continues to represent her in the related civil matter and remains committed to pursuing accountability for what happened.

We will continue to share important updates as the case progresses.

CAOC has named Jimenez and Gonzalez v. New Haven Unified School District a Street Fighter of the Year finalist.

For more than five years, Megan Burns, Emily Dahm, and Alan Charles Dell'Ario worked to hold New Haven Unified accountable after a student and her mother were attacked on campus following a year of known threats and bullying. The jury found the district 100% responsible, rejecting arguments that the attack happened too quickly to prevent and that no duty was owed to the mother.

The case didn't end with the verdict. It continued through post-trial motions, mediation, and full appellate briefing, then nearly 700 days on appeal before resolving on the eve of oral argument.

Five years, one trial, and an appeal that outlasted most cases entirely. Megan, Emily, and Alan stayed on it the whole way.

Congratulations to all three!

$40,000 to $5.5 million.

Before hiring Mirador Law, our client and his family spent months communicating directly with the insurance company following a serious accident. The offer they received was $40,000 toward medical bills, an amount that did not come close to covering the full cost of his care.

After Mirador Law stepped in, the case resolved for $5.5 million, representing every dollar of available insurance coverage, without the need to file a lawsuit.

We believe our reputation for being prepared to take cases as far as necessary helped make the difference. For this client and his family, it meant securing the full policy limits without years of litigation.

$40,000 before representation. $5.5 million after.

Past results do not guarantee or predict future outcomes. Every case is different and must be evaluated on its own facts and circumstances.

The practice of law begins with people. Shared trust often starts in the smallest moments, and Emily Dahm has learned that a laugh at the right time can open the door to conversations that once felt impossible. Finding common ground creates space for honesty and helps lower defenses during a difficult case.

Emily carries that understanding into every negotiation and deposition. She keeps searching for the moment where people stop talking past one another and start making progress.

A Hayward jury awarded $983,000 to a San Leandro woman who was injured after slipping and falling on pooled water inside a Safeway store.

The leak had been known for weeks before the fall. Before trial, Safeway made a low settlement offer, but our client trusted our team to keep fighting for the full value of her injuries.

Partners Emily Dahm and Megan Burns tried the case and won, securing more than double what had been offered before trial.
