Starting on December 15, Phoenix 911 operators will add a new question during call intake: “Do you need police, fire or behavioral health?”

The goal of this change is to ensure the right help is sent to the right calls, reducing unnecessary police responses while providing faster, more specialized support for behavioral health-related emergencies.

Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Rosa Mroz this morning. Words escape me, so I will borrow some from her coworkers:

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Meg Mahoney called Mroz a "most generous spirit and an extraordinary person," adding that she was kind and treated everyone like a close friend.

Mahoney went on to say Mroz was a loving wife, devoted daughter and adoring mother to two children.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Howard Sukenic said Mroz was the "brightest of lights and an example of the best in all of us."

"Judge Mroz was a gifted jurist, a dedicated public servant and a true friend," Maricopa County Superior Court Presiding Judge Joseph Welty said.

Rosa Mroz was crossing the street near 56th Street and Camelback Road around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday when she was struck.
