Lihn Law Group, PLLC

A full day together to think about what comes next.

Yesterday, our entire Lihn Law Group team gathered offsite in Scottsdale for our annual strategic planning retreat. We explored ways to improve, planned for the firm’s future, and made time for each team member to consider their own goals and growth.

Connection was a theme throughout the day—our connection to one another, to the work we do, and to the families who trust us through some of life’s most important decisions.

We’re grateful for the ideas, care, and commitment this team brings to LLG, and excited to put those conversations into practice.

We’re proud to share that Caleb Lihn was named a 2026 PHOENIX magazine Top Lawyer in Elder Law.

Helping older adults, people with disabilities, and their families navigate complicated decisions with clarity, dignity, and confidence is the heart of Lihn Law Group’s work.

We’re grateful to see that work recognized by the Arizona legal community.

August is National Make-A-Will Month, which means many people saw the same important message: make a will.

That is good advice. But it is not always the whole story.

A will can be an essential part of an estate plan. It can name beneficiaries, nominate guardians, and identify the person you want to handle your estate.

What it generally does not do is avoid probate, and that distinction matters.

For some families, probate may be entirely manageable. For others, privacy, incapacity planning, greater control over how assets pass, additional protection for beneficiaries, or simply making things easier for the people they love may point toward a trust-based plan.

And despite the way the question is often framed, it is not always will or trust? Many well-designed estate plans use both.

This is why we encourage people not to start with the document. Start with the goal. What do you want to happen if you become incapacitated? How do you want your assets to pass? What would make things clearer and easier for your family?

At LLG, we created a custom needs assessment to help our clients identify what matters most to them before we begin designing their estate plan. We then build the legal plan around those priorities.

Because the goal is not simply to have documents. The goal is to have a plan that works when your family needs it.

We’re proud to share that Lihn Law Group founder Caleb Lihn has been recognized in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in two practice areas:

• Trusts and Estates
• Litigation – Trusts and Estates

This recognition is especially meaningful because Best Lawyers selections are based on peer review by other attorneys in the profession.

For Caleb, the recognition reflects the work our entire LLG team does every day to help individuals and families navigate some of life’s most important—and often most difficult—decisions.

We’re grateful to our colleagues for the recognition and, most importantly, to the clients and families who place their trust in our team.

Most families won't remember every detail of the legal work we do together.

They may not remember the date a pleading was filed or every step of the legal process.

But they almost always remember how they were treated.

They remember the person who answered the phone with kindness when life felt overwhelming.

The person who patiently explained what came next.

The person who caught the small details that made a big difference.

The person who helped turn uncertainty into reassurance.

For so many of the families we have the privilege of serving, those people have been Stacey and Catey.

Today, on National Paralegal Day, we're proud to celebrate two remarkable professionals who embody the values of Lihn Law Group every day. Together, they bring more than 33 years of experience to our team, along with unwavering professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Stacey also serves as one of Lihn Law Group's four Certified Dementia Practitioners (CDPs), bringing additional knowledge, understanding, and compassion to families navigating cognitive decline.

Much of what Stacey and Catey do happens quietly, behind the scenes. Yet its impact is deeply felt—in every client experience, every difficult conversation, and every family that leaves our office feeling supported instead of alone.

Stacey and Catey, thank you for the countless ways you make a difference. Your work strengthens the trust our clients place in Lihn Law Group, and your compassion leaves a lasting impact on the families we serve. We are grateful for you.

Happy National Paralegal Day.

Last week, Caleb spoke at the Huntington’s Disease Society of America Annual Convention on estate planning and special needs trusts.

What stood out most was the urgency in the room.

Families, advocates, and professionals were not there for abstract legal information. They were there because they wanted to prepare, understand their options, and do everything they could for the people they love.

For families impacted by Huntington’s disease, planning is rarely just about legal documents. It can involve care, benefits, decision-making authority, family communication, and how to protect a loved one without unnecessarily taking away autonomy.

After the session, a neurologist asked Caleb for his slides because her patients ask these questions often, and she is not always sure where to send them for answers.

That moment captured why these conversations matter.

The need for thoughtful planning does not stop at the family’s front door. It follows doctors, care teams, advocates, and professionals who are trying to support families through complex and emotional decisions.

We are grateful to HDSA for creating space for this important conversation — and to the families, advocates, and professionals who continue to lead with such courage and love.

These conversations are not easy. But when they happen early and thoughtfully, they can become an act of love.
