🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: NO YARD DEBRIS BURNING

The City has responded to two brush fire calls today caused by homeowners burning yard debris. One incident involved three separate homeowners burning debris.

We remain under a Declaration of Emergency due to highly dangerous conditions. A single spark can quickly become an uncontrolled fire, threatening homes, property, and lives.

🔥 DO NOT BURN YARD DEBRIS.

Protect your neighbors, our firefighters, and our community. Burning in violation of emergency restrictions may result in a fine.

Please take this seriously. No burning means NO burning.

🌳 POST-STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL UPDATE | GULF BREEZE PROPER

📍 For residents inside the City limits of Gulf Breeze Proper
The City’s debris hauler, CWR, will collect storm debris piles on two Tuesdays: October 13 and October 20.
Please review these important guidelines to help crews work safely and efficiently:

🚛 DEBRIS PLACEMENT
Place storm debris piles along the roadway, NOT in the roadway.
Limbs and trees must be sized so they can be picked up by a large clam truck.
Do NOT place debris piles under power lines.
Crews may prioritize larger and arterial streets to minimize further damage and maintain access for emergency vehicles.

💧 EYES ON THE INLETS
As City crews work to remove debris, we need residents’ help! Please check stormwater inlets along the edge of your property and make sure they are clear of debris. Keeping inlets clear helps stormwater drain properly.

⚠️ STORM DEBRIS ONLY
Please do NOT place non-storm-related vegetation or construction and demolition (C&D) debris in the public right-of-way. It will NOT be picked up. Please utilize the transfer station.
Thank you for doing your part to help Gulf Breeze recover safely and efficiently.

🚨 IMPORTANT COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

As our community begins assessing the damage left behind by the hurricane, the Gulf Breeze Police Department is urging all residents to stay off the roadways as much as possible and avoid any non-essential travel.

Local officials, emergency personnel, and first responders are actively assessing storm damage and working as quickly and safely as possible to identify hazards, clear debris, and ensure our roadways are safe for travel.

Please do your part by remaining home unless travel is absolutely necessary. Limiting traffic allows emergency crews to work more efficiently and helps keep both our residents and first responders safe.

We understand everyone is eager to return to normal, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as recovery efforts continue.

The safety of our residents remains our top priority. Please continue to stay alert, use caution, and follow official updates as conditions are assessed.

*** Water Has Been Restored***

GBRWS will begin shutting off water and sewer to the low-lying coastal roadways listed below at 3:30pm this afternoon. These mains are more susceptible to be being broken and/or inundated than the other mains in the system. If we isolate these mains, we are more likely to maintain water pressure throughout the storm for most of the water users and avoid pumping excessive flood water to the plant.

PENSACOLA BEACH ONLY: Mainland ECUA water and sewer services are NOT affected by this planned shutdown.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast and an evacuation order is issued for Pensacola Beach, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority will temporarily shut down water and sewer services on Pensacola Beach beginning Friday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m., once emergency personnel have evacuated the island.

Water and sewer services will remain operational while emergency crews are on Pensacola Beach. Once first responder emergency personnel have evacuated, ECUA will shut down the systems to help protect utility infrastructure and limit potential impacts during the storm.

The temporary shutdown will help ECUA:
• Limit uncontrolled water loss by preventing water from continuing to flow into storm-damaged pipes or building plumbing while crews cannot safely access the area to make repairs.
• Protect critical equipment by allowing vulnerable pumps and electrical equipment to be properly shut down and protected from potential flood damage.
• Reduce wastewater flows after sewer pumping is shut down by limiting the amount of wastewater generated from showers, faucets and other plumbing fixtures. This can help reduce the potential for sewer backups and overflows, although stormwater can still enter the sewer system during the storm.

ECUA will monitor conditions throughout the storm and begin restoring services when it is safe for crews to return to Pensacola Beach and assess the utility system.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for the temporary loss of water and sewer services and to follow all evacuation instructions issued by Escambia County Emergency Management officials.

For the latest information from ECUA, customers are encouraged to visit ECUA.fl.gov and follow ECUA on social media. Customers should also monitor trusted local media outlets and emergency management resources for storm-related updates, including Escambia County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service office in Mobile.

❓🚗"When will the bridges close?" is one of the most frequently asked questions ahead of a storm.

Since road and bridge closures are weather dependent, unfortunately we aren't able to predict with certainty when closures will happen.

Law enforcement will make the decision to close a bridge when conditions become unsafe, or when sustained winds (not gusts) reach 39 mph or higher. Keep in mind that just because one bridge is closed does not mean that all bridges are closed.

When bridge closures happen, they will be announced as soon as possible. Stay tuned to local media outlets, myescambia.com, and our page for updates.
