When I give client's tours of Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, or the Panama City Beach region; I go over a few details about preparing for Storms such as Hurricane and Tropical Storms.
I'm going to share two pieces of advice here, as they are applicable for preparation in short-order. We may experience a prolonged period of utility service interruption. Prepare yourself for such a scenario.
1) I recommend to my clients to purchase a home with a 🛁tub/shower combination in at least one secondary bathroom. The bathtub should be filled with water to use for flushing commodes in case of water utility service interruption. It can also be used in food preparation and consumption if needed.
2) Immediately begin to create or storing ice for food preservation.
If we enter such a period of service interruption, communicate regularly with neighbors. We are a community and I imagine collectively we have the resources make it through an emergency together.
Study recommended evacuation routes, pick a destination, and as safely as possible make your way there. As the storm approaches, before it reaches land on Friday October 9th and conditions are still somewhat safe to evacuate. If you get a feeling, or a voice in your head that tells you to flee (i.e. evacuate). Don't second guess, take the inspirations word for it, it may be telling you something.
