It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to call my clients with the life changing news that we've been able to discharge their student loan debt in bankruptcy.

Student loan have capitalized interest. Interest capitalization is when unpaid accrued interest is added to your loan's principal balance. This means you're paying interest on interest. This causes your overall debt to grow substantially. For example, the typical 8% student loan of $50,000 can easily double in 10 years. Many borrowers have paid off the principal amount owed several times over and still owe a substantial balance! The loans we are discharging in bankruptcy are mostly uncollectible loans, meaning there's a hardship and likely no hope the loan could ever be repaid.
