What a way to start the weekend!
In nearly 100 years of history, we think this might be a first for our firm.
Today, we hosted a wedding! 💍
Janice Nelson and Ben Atkinson, both in their 90s, were high school sweethearts who found their way back to each other after 70 years. When they came in for an appointment with attorney Tori Seng, they mentioned that they wanted to get married within the week, but weren’t sure where to go. We knew we had to help.
As it turns out, WRHS partner Eric Straub is an ordained minister. So, we did it here. And yes, there was cake!
In a full circle moment, we learned that Janice worked at WRHS in the 1970s alongside founding attorneys like Henry Whitlow and Dick Roberts. She also told us that her aunt was Georgia Mae Dunn, Paducah‘s first female attorney. And Ben told the story about how in this very building back when it was the home of People’s First National Bank and Trust, he opened his first bank account here after returning from the military service. He even showed us which window he went to.
Some places hold more history than you know and we are so honored that ours got to hold part of theirs today.
Help us wish a warm congratulations to Janice and Ben. We wish you every happiness. ❤️
