This week is National Boating Safety Week. Here are some facts and some helpful links to help you have a fun and SAFE summer!

Do you know these Kentucky laws?

A person must be 12 years or older to operate a motorboat (including personal watercraft) with 10 horsepower or over on Kentucky public waters.

A person 12-17 years old shall possess a Kentucky Safe Boating Certificate Card or a certificate showing successful completion of a NASBLA-approved boater education course. Here is a link where you can find this course! https://www.boat-ed.com/kentucky/

Persons under 12 years of age must wear a personal floatation device (lifejacket) while in the open portion of a boat that is underway.

May is motorcycle safety awareness month.

In 2021, there were 5,932 motorcyclists killed. NHTSA data show that this is the highest number of motorcyclists killed since at least 1975.
