October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and CFAWL is collecting menstrual products for survivors in our community 💜 Period products are a basic need, and no one starting over should have to go without.

Donations benefit Haven of Lake & Sumter Counties and the Victim Service Center of Central Florida.

Congratulations, Kaylah Clark! 🎉⚖️

We're thrilled to share that CFAWL Scholarship recipient Kaylah Clark passed the July 2026 Florida Bar Examination! Kaylah put her CFAWL scholarship toward the resources she needed to prepare for the exam, and all that hard work paid off.

Mahjong! 🀄

Last night, CFAWL members traded briefs for tiles at our Table for Eight, learning to shuffle, stack, and match their way through a game of strategy, skill, and a little bit of luck. Dinner first, then a lesson, then plenty of laughter at every table.

A huge thank you to our hosts, Judge Barbara Leach and Conti Moore, for welcoming us to Conti Moore Law, and to Mah and Away for teaching a room full of new players the basics. 💜

We have a feeling a few rematches are already being planned.

Congratulations to everyone who got good news from the July bar exam today! The flashcards, the practice MBEs, the outline you swore you'd never finish — it all led here. The celebration is granted. 🎉 Swearing-in is next, and we can't wait to call you colleagues.

A packed house for the September luncheon. 🎉

Justice Meredith L. Barrios of the Supreme Court of Florida joined us Friday at the OCBA for “Not the Way It’s Always Been Done: A Discussion About Paving Pathways” — and she meant paths she has actually cut. Her own, to the Supreme Court. And the Sixth District Court of Appeal, which she helped stand up from scratch as its first Chief Judge.

Then she took us somewhere most lawyers never get to see: not just how the Court decides cases, but how it runs. The daily work of operating a court system, and the parts of the job that never show up in an opinion.

And on September 11, the flags on every table said the rest. 🇺🇸

Huge thanks to Justice Barrios for such a generous hour, to the Orange County Bar Association for hosting us, and to Pizza Bruno for lunch — the owner came along with the pasta and took the mic for a few words to the room.

To everyone who filled that room: thank you. See you next month! 💜

Three books, three Wednesdays, one very good fall. 🍂

CFAWL Book Club is back with our fall lineup. We meet the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at Digress — with November moved up a week ahead of the holiday.

September 30 — KIN by Tayari Jones. A powerful novel about family, legacy, secrets, and the ties that bind — and the ones we have to break.

October 28 — Caller Unknown by Gillian McAllister. A twisty, unforgettable thriller about a woman who takes a call from the past, and never gets her old life back.

November 18 — The Mad Wife by Meagan Church. Darkly compelling domestic suspense about the perfect-housewife façade, and what happens when the cracks begin to show.

Great books. Meaningful connections. Stronger together. Haven't finished the book? Come anyway — half the fun is the conversation. 💜
