And just like that, we mingled. 🥂

On Wednesday evening, CFAWL members traded the courtroom for cocktails at The Good Pour in Winter Park for our first Members Mingle — no CLE credit required, just good company (and a gift shop worth browsing between conversations).

The Good Pour even put a Member's Mingle Margarita on the menu for the night, and a portion of every sale went straight to the charity of the buyer's choice — so we mingled and gave back.

Thank you to The Good Pour for the warm welcome and the beautiful space, and to every member who came out to meet each other somewhere other than a conference room. 💜

CFAWL and the OCBA Young Lawyers Section gathered at Pour Choice Taphouse on August 12 to raise money for A Gift for Teaching, which puts school supplies in the hands of Central Florida teachers and students. Every dollar from the evening goes toward backpack supplies.

Ever thought about taking your FAWL involvement statewide? Twelve committees are open for sign-ups right now, and there is room on them for you.

Awards. The Journal. Lobby Days in Tallahassee. FAWL in Love with GAL, which pairs attorneys with young people aging out of foster care. Fall Conference in Tampa, Spring Conference in Miami — and next June, the Annual Conference comes home to Orlando.

Most committees ask for your interest, not your experience. Lobby Days says plainly that no lobbying background is needed, and Public Relations says the same about graphic design. If something on the list makes you curious, that is enough to raise your hand.

This is how our members end up shaping the work across Florida. If a colleague comes to mind, tell her.

And we’re off! 🎉

Our August luncheon packed the room at the Orange County Bar Association — our new luncheon home — to kick off the bar year with Hon. Mary Alice “Molly” Nardella, Judge of the Sixth District Court of Appeal and a CFAWL member.

Her topic: “Making the Ask.” From motion calendar to oral argument, advocacy comes down to the ask — and to how it lands. Preparation, candor and everyday professionalism are what separate the advocate who is merely heard from the one who is genuinely persuasive. So many practical takeaways. 📝

Huge thanks to Judge Nardella for such a generous hour, to the OCBA for hosting us, and to JJ’s Scratch Cocina for a lunch worth going back for seconds (those mini cheesecakes 🫐).

And to everyone who showed up — you made it. What a start to the year. See you next month! 💜
