📣FinCEN Update – Effective March 1, 2026 🔔

FinCEN is replacing the temporary Geographical Target Orders (GTOs) with a permanent nationwide rule called the Residential Real Estate (RRE) Rule.

Starting March 1, 2026, certain residential real estate transactions will require a Real Estate Report to be filed with FinCEN.

Here’s what that means:

✅ Applies mainly to non-financed (all-cash) purchases.

✅ When the buyer is an LLC, corporation, or trust.

✅ The reporting responsibility will fall on the designated closing professional.

This is no longer just specific counties in California — this will now be a nationwide requirement.

The goal is increased transparency in real estate transactions, especially when properties are purchased through entities.

If you’re planning to buy through an LLC or trust — or you’re an investor purchasing with cash — this is something you’ll want to be aware of moving forward.
