The firm was founded in New Orleans in 1926 by Eberhard Deutsch and Emmett Kerrigan. They were discerning advocates who demanded the utmost clarity and precision of the firm’s lawyers. In 1951, Eberhard Deutsch countered an opposing 1,450-page brief with 11 pages of tightly reasoned argument—and won a landmark catastrophic damages case before the United States Supreme Court. This legend resonates in our contemporary legal practice: we are problem-solvers, applying enduring principles of craft to serve clients effectively and efficiently. For the fifth consecutive year, Deutsch Kerrigan was named to the U.S. News & World Report as a 2015 “Best Law Firm” with honors in all three Tiers in 13 different practice areas. As part of our commitment to the communities we serve, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity to paint studs that will frame the foundation for future houses they build. We have been around for 100 years because of our commitment to the communities we live, work and play in.
