Here's something every Tennessee and Florida resident should know, even if you never need it: there's a ticking clock on your right to file a personal injury claim.

In Tennessee, the statute of limitations for most personal injury claims is just one year from the date of the accident. That's one of the shortest deadlines in the country, and it goes by faster than people expect once medical treatment, insurance back-and-forth, and everyday life get in the way.

In Florida, the deadline is two years, following a change in state law that shortened it from the previous four-year window.

Miss either deadline, and in most cases, you permanently lose the right to pursue compensation, regardless of how clear-cut your case might have been.

Here’s a question I get more often than you’d expect: “What happens if the person who hit me doesn’t have insurance?”

Unfortunately, it happens more than most people realize. Both Tennessee and Florida have a meaningful number of drivers on the road who are uninsured or underinsured.

When people think of a truck accident, they often assume it’s handled just like any other car accident. It isn’t, and that distinction matters.

Commercial trucking companies are required to follow strict federal safety regulations covering everything from driver hours to vehicle maintenance. When those rules are broken, it can directly impact who’s liable for a crash.

🚨 If you've ever been in a car accident — or know someone who has — this is worth reading.

Most people don't realize that what you do in the minutes right after a crash can have a huge impact on your injury claim. Insurance companies are trained to look for reasons to pay you less. Here's how to protect yourself:

1️⃣ Stay at the scene and call 911 — always get a police report.

2️⃣ Take photos and video of everything: damage, road conditions, injuries.

3️⃣ Get the other driver's name, insurance, and license plate.

4️⃣ Talk to any witnesses and get their contact info.
