Thirteen years ago, a very dear friend invited me to my first WLAM meeting, and I have been a proud member ever since. What started as an introduction to an incredible community quickly became a lifelong commitment to an organization whose values align so closely with my own.

On April 26th, I will step into the role of WLAM’s 107th President. WLAM has long been a champion for equality in the judicial system for women, and I am beyond proud to lead an organization that continues to push for meaningful change.

Here’s to another year of progress, advocacy, and lifting each other up!

As the President-Elect, I am excited to announce the 107th Annual Meeting for the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan!

WLAM has been a cornerstone for supporting and advancing women in the legal field since 1919. This year’s annual meeting celebrates the theme “Come, As You Are,” embodying our commitment to inclusivity, authenticity, and empowerment within the legal profession. This theme reflects our dedication to fostering an environment where women can bring their true selves to the forefront, embracing their unique identities, perspectives, and experiences.

One of the greatest rewards a defense attorney can receive is a call from a former client who’s now out of prison, making big changes in their life, and reaching out to say thank you. That moment is a reminder of why we do this work—for second chances and the power of transformation. When we know better, we can do better, and that goes for all of us.

According to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, more than 10 million adults in the United States experience domestic violence annually. One in four women and one in nine men experience sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Attorney Jennifier (Jen) C. I am honored to be the recipient of the Macomb County Bar Association’s first annual Gideon Award.

The Gideon Award recognizes an individual for the representation of the indigent either through one significant case or for an exemplary career, dedicated to the protections guaranteed by the 6th Amendment of the United States Constitution

It was a honor to participate in the State Bar of Michigan’s Face of Justice event this afternoon with Dearborn High School. These students were amazing and brought fantastic questions. The future of law is is great hands with these students!
