Property owners in Wisconsin, whether businesses, landlords, or homeowners, have a legal duty to keep their premises reasonably safe. When they fail to do that, the consequences for visitors can be serious. Slippery floors, icy walkways, broken handrails, poor lighting, and unshoveled sidewalks are just some of the hazardous conditions that lead to falls and injuries every winter and year-round in Milwaukee and across the state. Falls account for more than 8 million emergency room visits every year nationally, and many of those injuries were entirely preventable. If you were hurt on someone else's property due to an unsafe condition, Jacobs Injury Law can help you hold the responsible party accountable. Call (414) 306-8999 for a free consultation. You pay nothing unless we win.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and it's an important time to know that survivors have legal options beyond the criminal justice system. A civil lawsuit allows victims to hold perpetrators and negligent institutions accountable directly, and to seek compensation for medical costs, therapy, lost wages, and pain and suffering. The criminal process can be slow, uncertain, and out of a survivor's control. A civil claim puts power back in your hands. At Jacobs Injury Law, we handle these cases with care, confidentiality, and a deep commitment to justice for survivors. If you or someone you love needs guidance, we are here to help.

Here's something most accident victims don't realize until it's too late: the insurance adjuster calling you after your accident works for the insurance company, not for you. Their goal is to resolve your claim as quickly and cheaply as possible. Common tactics include:
Calling within days of an accident, before you know the extent of your injuries;
Asking for a recorded statement that can be used against you;
Offering a quick settlement before medical treatment is complete; and
Making the process long and difficult so you give up.

You are not required to accept their first offer. You are not required to speak with them without an attorney. Under Wisconsin law, you have the right to fair compensation for your injuries, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Jacobs Injury Law takes on insurance companies every day.

A federal watchdog report released this week found that many U.S. nursing homes are creating false schizophrenia diagnoses to conceal their use of powerful antipsychotic drugs on dementia patients. According to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, these drugs are being used as chemical restraints to manage residents' behavior for the benefit of staff, not for the medical benefit of patients.

The FDA has warned that these drugs increase the risk of falls, strokes, and death in elderly patients with dementia. In some cases documented by investigators, residents were medicated for entirely harmless behaviors.

If you suspect a loved one in a Wisconsin nursing home has been improperly medicated or mistreated, Jacobs Injury Law can help you understand your legal options. Call (414) 306-8999 for a free consultation. Read the full article: https://ow.ly/8w9K50YxJAc

False diagnoses are used to mask inappropriate use of antipsychotic drugs on patients with dementia, a practice called chemical restraint, a government watchdog report said.
