Heart breaking, especially given its Memorial Day weekend. BK gave the ultimate sacrifice this weekend.

On Saturday night, May 23rd, Boston Firefighter and Marine veteran Robert “BK” Kilduff, Jr. made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

BK, a member of Rescue Company 2, suffered catastrophic injuries after falling from the third floor of a burning home at 18 Treadway Road in Dorchester. Despite the extraordinary efforts of fellow firefighters on scene, Boston EMS, and the staff at Boston Medical Center, BK succumbed to his injuries.

He leaves behind two adult children, a loving girlfriend, and her children.

BK dedicated his life to serving others. Whether as a United States Marine, a Boston firefighter, or during his 15 years working for the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, BK was always willing to step up and help anyone in need. He was known throughout the PFFM and IAFF as someone who could always be counted on, no matter the task, the hour, or the challenge.

His commitment to the fire service, organized labor, and helping others left a lasting impact on so many people across Massachusetts and beyond.

BK’s loss is being felt deeply by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and the communities he spent his life protecting and serving. During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for your support for those he leaves behind.

Please consider making a donation in memory of Robert “BK” Kilduff, Jr. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help support his family and honor the legacy of a man who gave so much to others throughout his life.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and solidarity.

An unfortunate situation for Lexington Firefighters Local 1491 nevertheless they will always answer the calls of the citizens. They deserve a fair contract for the life saving work they do.

continue to answer the call every day, despite working 325 days without a contract and nearly two years without a pay raise.

While firefighters put their lives on the line protecting this community, Town of Lexington, MA officials continue to drag their feet at the bargaining table.

I’m so proud to represent and work with Waltham Firefighters Local 866 LT Sandoval’s actions do not go unnoticed. I hope he had a speedy recovery and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and friends.

A local firefighter who was praised for courage and protecting people from a falling limb of an oak tree is recovering at home after he was struck. https://www.wcvb.com/article/framingham-sandoval-tree-limb-firefighter-injury/71376796

🚨 BIG NEWS FOR NEW BEDFORD PUBLIC SAFETY 🚨
When our community’s safety is on the line, our brothers and sisters don't just sit back. Billy Sylvia (President of New Bedford Firefighters Local 841) and Billy Cabral (Secretary-Treasurer of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts) took the fight straight to Beacon Hill, lobbying state leaders to protect our city and keep Engine 9 in service.
Their hard work paid off. Yesterday, Senator Mark Montigny delivered massive relief in the FY2027 Senate budget to offset the city's sudden $32 million budget deficit and stop the closure of the North End station.

Here are the key takeaways from the Senator's announcement:

$500,000 Direct Earmark: Senator Montigny secured a specific $500,000 amendment explicitly dedicated to keeping Fire Station 9 open and maintaining emergency response times across New Bedford.

Over $1.2 Million in New State Funds: Combined with a $797,662 increase in unrestricted state aid, the city has an additional $1,297,662 available to protect public safety.

Closing the Gap:

The initial city budget proposed cutting $790,917 from the fire department's payroll line item. This new state funding completely offsets that gap.
As Local 841 President Billy Sylvia put it, this is true leadership. Senator Montigny stepped up without delay to protect the men and women on the rig so they can keep serving our community when needed most.

The Bottom Line:

Closing Station 9 and cutting firefighters can never be the answer to a municipal deficit. We owe a massive thank you to Senator Montigny, Senate President Spilka, and Ways and Means Chair Rodrigues for hearing the call from our union leadership and protecting New Bedford.
Let’s keep the pressure on and ensure these funds are used exactly where they belong: keeping Engine 9 online! 🚒💪

The full statement from Senator Mark Montigny’s office is in the comments.

Another well deserved win for Medford Firefighters Local 1032! Another case that tells City Hall they cannot just do whatever the want and rather they must abide by the CBA and tenets of just cause.
