Most injury cases settle, but strong results often come from being ready for trial.

Insurance companies tend to negotiate more seriously when they know a legal team is ready to go to court. Being prepared for trial from the start shifts the dynamic.

Our team takes that approach from day one. Whether a case resolves quickly or heads to litigation, preparation and experience make the difference.

After a crash, the questions come fast. Here are a few we hear most often in Connecticut:

❔How long do I have to file a claim?
👉 Deadlines apply, and waiting too long can limit your options.

❔What should I do after a crash?
👉 Get medical care, document the scene, and be cautious with insurance statements.

❔Does a minor crash still matter?
👉 Yes. Injuries and damage aren’t always obvious right away.

❔What affects case value?
👉 Medical treatment, documentation, and how the crash impacts your life all play a role.

If a defective product caused you harm, don’t return it to the store.

Your first instinct might be to get a refund or throw the broken item in the trash. But in a product liability claim, the product itself is the most critical piece of evidence we have.

Protect your future claim by following these steps first:
🔹 Keep the Packaging: The box often contains specific batch numbers or warnings that are crucial to the case.

🔹 Do Not "Fix" It: We need to show the defect exactly as it happened. Attempting a repair can alter the evidence.

🔹 Save the Paperwork: Receipts, manuals, and warranty cards establish ownership and the timeline.

Don't let a refund cost you your rights. If you aren't sure what to keep, get in touch with us today: https://www.attorneycollier.com/contact

A dog bite can be frightening, especially when it involves a child or loved one.

What you do in the first 24 hours makes a big difference. Seek medical care, report the bite to animal control, and try to identify the dog and its vaccination status.

Photos and witness details can also support your claim. In Connecticut, dog owners are legally responsible even if the dog has never bitten before.

The biggest mistake people make after a winter fall is getting up and leaving.

It’s natural to feel embarrassed after slipping on ice. Your instinct is to brush it off and get to your car. But the clock on your evidence starts ticking the second you hit the ground. If you are clearly injured, or think you could be, do not leave the scene without doing these three things:

1️⃣ Take photos of the ground: Ice melts. By tomorrow, the hazard that caused your fall might be gone.

2️⃣ Call for an ambulance if you feel injured. Consider getting checked out sooner than later.

3️⃣ Look for cameras or ask any witnesses for their names: Security footage is often overwritten within 24–48 hours. We need to secure that immediately.

Don't let "toughing it out" cost you your claim. If you’re unsure if you have a case, let’s check the details before the evidence disappears.
