⚠️ Property Tax Scam Reminder

We've previously addressed misleading property tax information, but as these videos continue to circulate online, we want to remind residents of the facts.

Videos circulating online claim a new federal property tax relief program exists for older homeowners and instruct residents to request a "Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request" form from their county auditor.

This program and form do not exist.

Ohio offers legitimate property tax relief through the Homestead Exemption and Owner-Occupancy Credit for qualifying homeowners. Eligible Homestead recipients may also receive a one-time, state-funded property tax reduction in 2027 under House Bill 479. Current Homestead recipients do not need to complete a separate application for that benefit.

Before relying on information shared through social media or other unofficial sources, contact the Ashtabula County Auditor's Office.
