The case was set for trial. Morgan made sure it never reached that point.

Morgan McNabb represented a client in Grayson County facing a Class B misdemeanor harassment charge.

The case had been set for trial, but before that day arrived, the charge was DISMISSED.

A strong result for the client and another reminder that preparation matters all the way through the life of a case.

👏 Fantastic work by Morgan.

Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every case is unique and must be evaluated on its own facts.

Waiting doesn’t always mean nothing is happening.
There really isn’t one universal timeline for a criminal case.

Morgan McNabb explains why the pace can change depending on where the case is being handled and what evidence is involved. A DWI involving a breath result may move differently than one involving a blood draw that still has to be processed by a lab, and different North Texas counties can operate on very different schedules.

That’s also why local experience matters. Someone who regularly practices in that county can give you a much more realistic picture of what the next few weeks or months may actually look like.

The strongest move in the room isn’t always the loudest one.

For Bo Kalabus, preparation is what creates the ability to stay calm, assess the situation, and make the move that best protects the client.

It’s a lesson he connects directly to flying: when the stakes are high, ego can push you into unnecessary risk.

Preparation does the opposite. It gives you options.

That same mindset carries into his criminal defense work.

Bo thinks through the difficult scenarios in advance, anticipates where a prosecutor or judge may take an issue, and prepares for the unexpected so he can respond strategically instead of reactively.

Experience helps you recognize the problem. Preparation helps you know what to do when it arrives.

The charge on paper was only part of what was at stake.

In Tarrant County, Gonzalo Serrano represented a client facing two separate cases, including a third-degree felony Assault on a Public Servant charge and a Class A misdemeanor for Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport.

Because the felony allegation carried potentially serious consequences beyond the courtroom, Gonzalo focused early on preventing the case from moving forward.

After months of working through the facts with the Grand Jury prosecutor, the felony case was ultimately NO-BILLED.

With that resolved, he turned his attention to the misdemeanor case and successfully negotiated a DISMISSAL.

Two cases. Two very different procedural paths. One result that allows the client to move forward without either charge resulting in a conviction.

👏 Fantastic work by Gonzalo.

Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every case is unique.
_______________

Getting out of jail doesn’t mean you’re done with your bond.

A bail bond is a separate contract between the defendant and the bonding company, NOT the attorney.

That can mean check-ins, financial obligations, and sometimes collateral. And if those requirements aren’t followed, the bonding company may decide to go off the bond—which can put the defendant at risk of another warrant. Your attorney may not always get a warning first.

Morgan McNabb breaks down the part people often don’t realize until they’re already dealing with it:
Getting released is step one. Understanding what keeps you released matters too.

The part of your story you’re most hesitant to tell your lawyer may be the part they most need to know.

It’s natural to walk into a criminal defense attorney’s office ready to explain everything that went right. The harder conversation usually comes next.

Ryan King explains why trust between an attorney and client matters so much early in a case, especially when it comes to discussing the facts you’d rather leave out.

Your attorney needs the full picture to prepare for what may be coming, including the good, the bad, and the ugly.

One ruling can change the entire evidence picture before a case ever reaches trial.

In a Collin County second DWI case, Kyle Therrian challenged the State’s blood-test evidence through a motion to suppress, and the court granted it.

Under the current ruling, those blood-test results CANNOT be used at trial.

That is a significant development. Blood evidence can be used to establish the .08 alcohol-concentration definition of intoxication in Texas, and a second DWI with one qualifying prior conviction generally carries enhanced Class A misdemeanor penalties.

Suppressing the blood results does not end the case. It does, however, change the evidence the State has available and can reshape how the case moves forward.

This is what thorough case development looks like: scrutinizing every step, every piece of evidence, and whether the State can actually use it.

👏 Fantastic work by Kyle.

Some people prepare for the best-case scenario. Bo prepares for the one nobody wants to happen.
That mindset has followed him for years.

Meet Bo Kalabus: Senior Partner, pilot, and the strategist you want thinking through what comes next.

He’s calm. Deliberate. Rarely rattled. And usually thinking several moves past the conversation happening in front of him.

The hours after a first DWI arrest can matter more than most people realize.

Once you leave jail, it can feel like the urgent part is over. In reality, important deadlines may already be approaching, including issues involving your driver’s license.

Ryan King explains what typically happens after a DWI arrest and why getting ahead of the next steps can matter.

If you or someone you love is dealing with a first DWI, knowing what comes next can make an unfamiliar process a little less overwhelming.

Sometimes the people closest to a veteran see the struggle long before anyone sees the connection.

A change after coming home. Substance use. Mental health struggles. Trouble that seems completely out of character. Then, eventually, an arrest.

For some veterans, their military history could be an important part of understanding what led them into the criminal justice system.

That’s why Reynie Tinajero wants families to know one important thing: make sure the defense attorney knows about their military service. It could open the door to resources and options they might otherwise miss.

Send this to a veteran or military family who should know.
