Nothing says “we’ve got this” quite like a security code sent to the one phone nobody can unlock. 🦝🔐😅

Passwords, recovery settings, and provider requirements can complicate even a well-organized family’s plans.

Here’s a manageable weekend task: list five online accounts your household would need if you couldn’t manage them. Note what each is for and where protected instructions are kept.

Keep those details secure—no passwords in the comments! 😉

🍎 Named an Apple Legacy Contact? That’s a helpful step—but there are limits.

The feature lets your chosen person request certain Apple account data after your death. It does not give them access to passwords, passkeys, or payment information stored in iCloud Keychain.

It also does not provide access while you’re living but unable to manage things yourself.

Your account settings and your estate plan need to work together, with arrangements for both incapacity and after death.

The mortgage still needs paying. The insurance information still needs finding. Life’s responsibilities don’t pause when something unexpected happens. 💙

Giving your family a clear path starts with a few questions:

• Which accounts would they need first?
• Where are secure instructions kept?
• Who have you authorized to help?

At Legal Journeys, we help Huntsville and Madison families connect those everyday details with their estate plans.

Let’s talk about yours. Schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation:

“My spouse knows my passwords. Isn’t that enough?” 🤔

It helps—but what happens if the password changes, the account locks, or a security code goes to a phone you can’t access?

Your spouse may need to work with the provider, and knowing your login does not automatically give them legal authority to act for you.

A thoughtful estate plan connects the person you trust with the authority and information they may need.

🔐 Your family knows your passwords. But do they know what to do next?

If an illness or accident left you unable to manage your online accounts, could someone pay the bills, find your insurance information, or locate important family records?

Knowing a password is a start. Your loved ones may also need clear instructions, secure access arrangements, and legal authority to help.

Our latest blog explains simple ways to include your digital life in your Alabama estate plan.

“They take care of you and your family above and beyond.”

That line from James's review means a great deal to us. Elaine, Levi, and our whole team know these conversations are personal. We want every family who walks through our doors to feel heard, supported, and confident about their estate plan.

Thank you, James, for trusting Legal Journeys and for taking the time to share your experience. 💙

Happy World Teachers’ Day to the people who explain the same thing twelve different ways until it finally clicks, notice when a student is having a hard day, and celebrate every little breakthrough. 🍎

We know the work doesn’t end when the bell rings. Thank you for the patience, heart, and countless hours you give to your students. Teachers, we appreciate you!

Know someone who has life insurance but hasn't looked at the beneficiary form in years? Send them this reminder: The policy amount matters, but so does who gets the money and what happens if that person can't.

This week's blog walks through spouse versus trust, backup beneficiaries, and how to make the policy fit the rest of an Alabama estate plan. It's a good one to share with a parent, newlywed, or anyone who recently created a trust.

Me: “My spouse is on my life insurance. I'm all set.”

The backup beneficiary line: “Hey, remember me?”

Seriously, check that second line. If your spouse couldn't receive the proceeds, would the next person be able to receive and manage them the way you want? If you haven't looked since the kids were tiny, you got married, or you set up your trust, this is your nudge.

Pull up your current beneficiary confirmation and check that backup box today. Save this post until you do.
