Her surgery didn’t fail — her aftercare did. Healing needs clean dressings, follow-ups, antibiotics, rest, and a safe place to recover. She had none.
When wounds go unchecked, the metal meant to stabilize the spine eventually forces its way outward.
Doctors call it “hardware exposure.” To everyone else, it’s just heartbreaking.
This isn’t only a medical failure — it’s a system failure. With proper care, this never would’ve happened in the open sun, unbandaged and unseen.
If healthcare were truly a right, we wouldn’t witness scenes like this on our streets.
This didn’t happen because of a bad body — it happened because of a broken system. When aftercare isn’t guaranteed, suffering becomes public and preventable.
