A raised section of sidewalk on Pacific Coast Highway in Harbor City showed up in Caltrans's own photographs as far back as 2012. In 2019, another rider crashed on it and sued. It was still there when our client's bike hit it, causing a traumatic brain injury, two years later.

Yesterday, a Long Beach jury returned an $11.5 million verdict and found Caltrans 95% responsible. Caltrans had offered $20,000.
