¿Ya tienes fecha para tu entrevista con USCIS? Es normal sentir nervios. Prepararte un poco hace una gran diferencia.

1. Repasa varias veces la solicitud que enviaste. El oficial te va a preguntar sobre lo que presentaste, así que tus respuestas deben coincidir con lo que escribiste. Eso incluye fechas, direcciones, trabajos y todo lo demás.
2. Lleva copias y originales de todos tus documentos de apoyo. El oficial puede pedirte los originales o más copias.
3. Vístete presentable. No necesitas traje. Un pantalón de vestir con camisa o blusa, o un vestido, está perfecto.

🎉 Do you have Special Immigrant Juvenile Status? The October Visa Bulletin moved the filing date up two years, to January 1, 2025. If your I‑360 priority date is before that, you may be able to file for your green card and a work permit this month.

This doesn't mean the green card gets approved right away. Final approval still depends on the final action date, which is December 15, 2022. But filing now gets your case moving and allows you to apply for a work permit.

🎉 ¿Tiene Estatus de Inmigrante Juvenil Especial (SIJS)? El Boletín de Visas de octubre adelantó la fecha de presentación dos años, al 1 de enero de 2025. Si la fecha de prioridad de su I‑360 es anterior, es posible que pueda solicitar su residencia y un permiso de trabajo este mes.

¿Te llegó esta carta del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional?

Antes, USCIS revisaba tu historial una sola vez cuando aplicabas para un beneficio inmigratorio. Ahora es diferente. Si te llegan a arrestar, la policía local lo reporta al FBI, y el FBI se lo reporta a USCIS, así, automáticamente, mientras tengas tu visa o green card, aunque tu caso ya haya cerrado.

Este año USCIS ha estado usando más este tipo de revisiones, y la ley dice que tienen que avisarte cuando hacen esto. Por eso te llega la carta.

No hiciste nada malo. No es una investigación nueva. Es solo el aviso que la ley exige.

No tienes que hacer nada. Si USCIS necesita algo de ti, te manda otro aviso pidiéndolo.

Did you get this letter from the Department of Homeland Security?

USCIS used to check your background once, at the time you applied for an immigration benefit. Now it works differently. If you're ever arrested, local police report it to the FBI, and the FBI reports it to USCIS, automatically, for as long as you hold your visa or green card, even after your case is already closed.

USCIS has been leaning on these checks more this year, and the law requires them to notify you when this happens. That's why the letter's going out.

You didn't do anything wrong. This isn't a new investigation. It's just the notice the law requires.

You don't need to do anything. If USCIS needs something from you, they'll send a separate notice asking for it.
