Confused whether to apostille or translate your foreign-language documents first? Here's the rule of thumb: apostille the original document first, then translate โ€” including the apostille certificate โ€” unless the receiving authority explicitly tells you otherwise in writing. Avoid the costly mistake of translating first and then apostilling. Read the full guide for immigration filings, cross-border transactions, and legal documents: https://wix.to/1flZtfl

Sold the house, moved overseasโ€”but your vehicle is still titled in Ohio? ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿš—

You may not need to fly back just to handle the title paperwork. Ohio BMV Form 3771 allows a vehicle owner to appoint a trusted person to act on their behalf for a certificate-of-title transaction.

Notary of Lewis Center can help with:

โœ… Remote online notarization from many locations worldwide
โœ… Review of the form for completeness before notarization
โœ… Clear instructions for mailing the original document
โœ… Convenient evening and weekend appointments

The original notarized BMV 3771 is generally required by the Ohio title office.

US citizen without an OCI card? Your POA for India needs two steps, not one.

The single most expensive mistake we see has nothing to do with your property or your bank โ€” it's about which passport you hold.

If you gave up your Indian passport and never applied for OCI, the Consulate won't attest your Power of Attorney until it's been apostilled first. OCI and PIO holders skip that step entirely.

Three other things worth knowing:
โ€ข India redrew the consulate map in 2025 โ€” Ohio is under New York, not Chicago
โ€ข Public sector bank home loans almost always require consular attestation, not just an apostille
โ€ข Your POA must be stamped in India within 90 days of arriving
