At noon, Keith Franklin is walking Laredo lawyers through Forming and Operating a Texas Charitable Nonprofit Corporation: start-up, operations, fundraising, and wind-up. This is the map most people only get after they’ve already filed the wrong form, mixed restricted funds, or inherited a board that never adopted bylaws.

One hour. Practical. Local.

He will cover the practical legal issues that come up from start-up and operations through fundraising, and, if it comes to it, wind-up and termination.

Will Clark of The Injury Law Guides took the Laredo Bar Association Members inside the largest truck crash injury verdict in Webb County history. He walked us through exactly how it was won.

This wasn’t theory. It was the actual playbook:

Texas H**p Law Lawyer David Sergi presented at the Laredo Bar Association's monthly Luncheon and CLE regarding the rapidly evolving topic of Texas H**p Law. Mr. Sergi and CLE Director George Altgelt have successfully defended multiple H**p dispensaries here in Laredo, resulting in the withdrawal of criminal charges. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Clearing the Smoke: A Guide to the Evolving Landscape of Texas Cannabis Law.

It was an informative discussion on one of the fastest-changing areas of Texas law, and we are grateful to David Sergi for sharing his knowledge and expertise with our members.

We also want to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the thoughtful questions and conversations throughout the program.

It was especially meaningful to welcome David back to Laredo. Early in his legal career, David served as a law clerk for Judge John Kazen, making this visit a chance to reconnect with longtime friends and colleagues while sharing his insight with the next generation of legal professionals.
