Would you spend $1 million on a condo in La Jolla or a house in North Park?

Same budget. Two very different ways to call San Diego home.

If you’re searching for San Diego homes around $1 million, the neighborhood you choose can change much more than your address.

In La Jolla, your search may lean toward condos and townhomes. You’re weighing a coastal location against factors like HOA fees, shared walls, and outdoor space. Being in La Jolla doesn’t automatically mean ocean views or walking distance to the Village.

In North Park, that budget could bring a smaller detached home into consideration, potentially with a private yard. The trade-offs may include an older home, updates, and differences in parking or walkability from one block to the next.

Neither is automatically the better purchase. The question is which home fits the way you actually want to live.
