As mentioned earlier, we understand the extra stress a government shutdown can bring, and especially when’s there’s uncertainty about when your next paycheck will arrive.

Below, we've listed some employee assistance sites/programs, and local resources in Camden County, GA, and Nassau County, FL, that may be helpful during this challenging time. Please check with each location directly for their hours of operation and specific support services.

• Barnabas Center: A major provider of community services in Nassau County, the Barnabas Center continues to operate its food pantry, mobile food distribution, and emergency food bag programs.
o Contact: Visit the Barnabas Center website at barnabasnassau.org for current hours and mobile distribution event schedules.
o Pantry: For their physical pantry, you can find them at 1303 Jasmine Street, Suite 101, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
• Feeding Northeast Florida: This larger regional food bank serves Nassau County and is increasing its food supply in response to the shutdown. They supply local food pantries and other community partners.

➡️Financial assistance in Nassau County, FL
• Barnabas Center: The Barnabas Center provides financial assistance for rent and utilities to qualifying families.
• Emergency Financial Assistance Program (Jacksonville): While not in Nassau County, Jacksonville's program offers temporary financial assistance for rent/mortgage and utilities to prevent eviction. It is advisable to call their appointment line at (904) 255-2469, as appointments fill quickly.
• Financial institutions: Many credit unions and banks, including USF Credit Union and Navy Federal Credit Union, are offering special assistance programs like emergency loans or "Skip-a-Pay" options for federal employees impacted by the shutdown. Contact your financial institution to see what options they offer.
• 211 Hotline: The 211 hotline is a useful resource for finding local assistance with bills and housing expenses.
Federal employee assistance
• Federal Employees Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA): FEEA is a non-profit organization that provides emergency loans and hardship grants to federal employees and their families affected by government shutdowns.
• Local credit unions: As mentioned above, some credit unions are offering specific programs for federal workers.
o USF Credit Union: Special government shutdown emergency loans.
Navy Federal Credit Union: 0% APR loans to eligible members.
