A Durable Power of Attorney is one of the most important estate planning documents you can have. It allows someone you trust to step in and manage your financial and legal affairs if you're ever unable to do so yourself.

With a Durable Power of Attorney, your chosen agent may be able to:

Many parents may feel that naming their minor child as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is the best way to protect them. Unfortunately, it can create unexpected legal complications.

Here's why:
➡️ Minor children generally cannot directly manage life insurance proceeds.
➡️ A court may need to appoint someone to manage the funds on their behalf.
➡️ The person chosen may not be the person you would have selected.
➡️ When your child reaches the age required by law, they may gain full control of the remaining funds—whether they're financially prepared or not.
