Newly obtained court records show the husband and wife of a fatal house explosion in Plainfield Township were under a mutual restraining order at the time of the blast.
In an interview with WZZM, Partner Sarissa Montague explained orders like this are common in contentious divorce proceedings, but differ significantly from a personal protection order.
“That takes place within a divorce proceeding, that is very, very different from a personal protection order,” Montague said in her interview, noting the restraining order in this case focused on finances and shared assets, not allegations tied to physical safety. “The restraining order in this case dealt with finances only. It did not deal with any issues pertaining to personal safety.
