A big loss, not just for the Feltes family, but for the general level of joy in this world. Dad was a great guy, and a lot of things to a lot of people. He was a coach, including little league, always batting round-robin, because every kid deserved a chance. He was a teammate, decades of bowling with friends. He was joyfully competitive, whether it be cribbage, euchre, bean bags, games of Horse in the driveway, or playing lawn darts (before they became illegal). He was a hardworker, working close to 46 years in an unairconditioned furniture factory, steelworker organized, upholstering an untold number of couches going up and down an assembling line. He was a jokester, always ready with a pun, the more attenuated the pun the more he laughed (and everyone around him). But, most of all, he was a nice guy -- nice and kind to absolutely EVERYONE he met. In the final weeks, he often told us four kids he was proud of us, because, in his words, "you all work hard and you all treat people well". That's what he valued. So, in honor of Dave Feltes, go be nice to someone today. And, while you are at it, maybe try cracking a bad pun... :) Love you Dad.

Earlier this week my mom passed away. She was a wonderful person. Humble, fiesty, loyal, great sense of humor, and a deep sense of social justice. Most of all, a great mom and grandma. She volunteered in the Dubuque community, and she had all kinds of hobbies; from collecting rocks, to writing poems, to taking up painting in later years. She certainly taught us all more than we can put into words right now, and we'll be forever grateful for those lessons and values, and the great memories. One of many is this past Christmas a few weeks ago, with this photo of her with Iris and Josie. Hug a loved one or friend today. Here is my mom's obituary: https://www.egelhofsiegertcasper.com/obituaries/Lynn-Feltes?obId=35117346

From "Crossover at Kinnick", to records breaking, to the Final Four (again!), it was another special and inspiring season of Iowa Women's Basketball for our family and so many. We were lucky to have season tickets, definitely renewing the tickets for next season, and, after the WNBA draft last night, we look forward to watching Caitlin Clark with the Indiana Fever and Kate Martin with the Las Vegas Aces this summer!

Iris stayed up for the night game to see the scoring record broken. Congratulations to Caitlin Clark and Iowa Hawkeyes Women's Basketball! You’ve inspired our daughters, and so many others!!
