Getting in the garden this spring? If gardening was a hobby that seems too challenging now due to mobility or strength issues, assistive technologies like this, which are sometimes just simple modifications can bring back the enjoyment.

Good news for Tennessee caregivers. Not sure what specifics are in place for the grant. As caregivers we find oftentimes the equipment that is most useful isn’t covered by insurance and finding respite care is difficult.

More great news from the state capitol! The Tennessee General Assembly has passed HB1443/SB1777, "The Caring for Caregivers Act."

This legislation establishes a state-funded grant pilot program to reimburse Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers for eligible out-of-pocket expenses required for care of their loved one (up to $6,000), such as home improvements, hospital equipment, medical supplies and respite care.

Thank you to our state legislators for their support of Tennessee's caregivers! The bill now awaits the Governor's signature.

Several days remain to comment on the United States Access Board questions regarding adult size changing table requirements for airports. What is set by their decision will likely become the baseline used for other facilities. They have several specific questions to consider.

Consider taking a moment to give the US Access United States Access Board your feedback about adult size changing stations and what the optimal family restroom in an airport should look like. Many of us have been in restrooms that weren’t designed for the users. This is an opportunity to have input on what you’d like to see. What the US Access Board sets as the guidelines is often used as the baseline for others to know what the standard is when designing even if they aren’t under US Access Board regulations.

The U.S. Access Board has published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) asking for public comment on its approach to developing technical standards for universal changing stations required to be provided by sponsors of medium and large hub airports seeking airport development project grants. Comments are due by April 20, 2026! Learn more and submit your comments at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/02/18/2026-03199/accessibility-standards-for-universal-changing-stations
