What simple yet helpful tools have you used in caring for loved ones with dementia or memory issues? Foreign spaces can increase confusion. Something as simple as decorating the door and room with familiar pieces makes it more homey and less hospital like.

A Dutch nursing home has found a simple, powerful way to help dementia patients feel at home: it places life-size stickers of their former front doors on their current room doors.

The village, called Hogeweyk in the town of Weesp, is designed to look and feel like a normal Dutch neighborhood. It features familiar storefronts, a town square, and even a theater. Inside, the door stickers act as visual anchors, helping residents find their way and reducing the confusion that often comes with a new living environment.

The approach is part of a broader philosophy that prioritizes quality of life, autonomy, and familiarity over a traditional clinical setting. It's a small detail with a massive impact. 🚪💛

Tennessee families in need of respite care be sure to apply before the end of the month.

Our application period is now open April 1st – June 30th, and we’re excited to welcome caregivers across Tennessee to apply for respite support.

Each year, our waitlist resets. All caregivers, including those currently on the waitlist, must submit a new application during this window to be considered for funding.

Alabama families can apply for grant money to help offset the cost of equipment, respite care and therapy services. Applications are accepted now thru the month of May.

Starting May 1, families can apply for funding to help cover important services like ABA therapy, camps, respite care, safety devices, and swimming lessons. 🏊‍♀️

💡 Don’t forget:
✔️ Applications are open through May 31
✔️ Awards are selected by lottery (up to $400)
✔️ Receipts are required at the time of application
✔️ Winners will be notified June 5

📝 Application Tips:
• All fields on the application must be completed
• For ABA and Swimming, a certification or license number is required (if not applicable, enter N/A)
• You will need to upload receipts with your application
• The total amount of receipts submitted is the amount you may be awarded (up to $400)
• You can upload up to 10 files—have your documents ready before you begin

We encourage families to review everything carefully before submitting.
