A PRELUDE.....Had an opportunity to discuss with Bryce Newberry at KPRC2 / Click2Houston that what the constable did in this situation violated the 4th Amendment.

Physical entry into the curtilage of a home is presumptively unreasonable under the Fourth Amendment unless one of the recognized exceptions applies: warrant, consent, exigency, plain view.

Also, there is NO "officers are exempt from trespass signs" rule. This constable's statement that the sign "doesn't pertain to law enforcement" has it backwards.

A Montgomery County Precinct 3 deputy constable is under internal affairs scrutiny after video footage captured him entering a family’s garage uninvited while serving a civil court notice.

🌒 There's an X-Files episode — "The Gift" — about a creature the Iroquois called a soul eater. When someone in the village was dying, it would consume them and bring them back whole. The disease gone. Erased.

But the sickness didn't disappear. It went into him. And the village kept coming, generation after generation, until he lived in constant pain from carrying what belonged to everyone else.

Some weeks this work feels like that. 💔

I take in what my clients carry — the grief, the injustice, the fear of a system that has already failed them once — and some days it leaves me drained.

Not everyone gets a yes from me and the no's are sometimes met with screaming and profanity. I understand. People reach out at the worst moment of their lives, and a closed door feels like one more.

⚖️ I strive to give my clients a voice. I always try to offer grace and kindness, whether I accept a case or not.

That's the gift. And that's the cost. 🕯️

⚖ How you conduct yourself in a case outlasts the case. ⚖️

A matter I handled about a year ago resolved in my client's favor. The referral I received recently came from the other side of that very case — and that client has now retained me. 🤝✨

I've thought about it all week. Zealous advocacy and basic decency have never been in conflict, and every so often you get proof. 🙏💼

⚖️ Not every story becomes a lawsuit. Not every injustice becomes a case.

One of the hardest parts of being a civil rights attorney isn't standing in a courtroom. It is telling someone, “I can't take your case.”

I receive calls and emails almost every day from people who believe their constitutional or civil rights have been violated. Many have compelling stories. Many have suffered real harm. I wish I could help every person who reaches out.

🎯 I have never wanted to build a practice where people become just another file number. Every person who reaches out deserves to be heard and taken seriously. But when I choose to move forward and contract with a client, it is then that I make a commitment to provide the level of attention, preparation, and advocacy that civil rights litigation demands. That means I cannot take every case, no matter how much I wish I could.

💰 Civil rights litigation is also extraordinarily expensive. Filing a lawsuit is only the beginning. Depositions, transcripts, expert witnesses, records, discovery, and trial preparation can easily require $10,000 or more in out-of-pocket litigation expenses—sometimes much more. Even strong cases require resources, and those resources are not always available.

Unlike many other types of litigation, civil rights cases are often pursued against well-funded governmental entities with significant resources. They require careful investigation, strategic litigation, and a willingness to take on difficult fights.

❤️ Declining a case is never a reflection of whether someone was wronged or whether their rights matter. More often than not, it reflects the practical realities of time, capacity, and the demands of this work.

🛡️ Civil rights cases are among the most difficult cases to litigate. They are hard-fought. They are time-consuming. They are often emotionally taxing. But they remain some of the most important cases our justice system has to offer because they are about accountability.

💟 I will continue to take the cases I believe in, give them everything I have, and fight for the clients I am fortunate enough to represent.

Because protecting constitutional rights has never been easy—and it has never been more necessary.

Today Vincent Law, PLLC + Vincent Civil Rights and The Ruiz Law Firm, PLLC jeld a press conference today at the Galveston PD/Galveston sheriffs office headquarters discussing two recently filed lawsuits in the Federal Southern District of Texas, Galveston division and future litigation as it relates to Law enforcement excessive force.


The lawsuits were announced Monday during a press conference outside the Galveston Police Department by attorneys Courtney Vincent of Vincent Law, and Alberto Ruiz of Ruiz Law Firm.

My client, Toya Malveaux, says she experienced discriminatory treatment from a bank. Last time I checked, it's not the 1950s.

Discrimination in banking is unlawful, unacceptable, and harmful to entire communities. No person should be treated differently because of who they are when seeking access to financial services.

On May 12, 2026, 1 year and 11 days after the ultimately fatal shooting of , Vincent Law, PLLC + Vincent Civil Rights, Meka-Umeka Lewis-Piccolo and Attorney Randall Kallinen held a press conference at the Harris County District Courthouse to announce the filing of a lawsuit seeking justice, accountability, and answers for and his family.
