Some cases and clients take all of us on a Journey. This case was no exception. Like clockwork, sometimes our responsibilities take us Statewide in Florida and I am so grateful for that opportunity.
My daughter sensed that today would be a difficult day for me so she packed me a snack for lunch and placed a note in it. Her note read: “Thank me later. No matter if you lose because you won in your mind.”
To many of you, especially in the Federal criminal system, pleading is losing. However to many of us, when the evidence does not outweigh the risk the best thing you can do is plea and accept responsibility. After the plea, the sentencing hearing becomes the Trial and the hard work begins for the Defense.
So my baby was right- it was not an acquittal. We did show up, we fought, we argued, and we did not win every issue we requested. In spite of it all, our client is currently out of custody, awaiting to serve his sentence, but facing reduced exposure and able to be at home in time for his children to come home from school.
A win to us, is defending our client with integrity and honor! So proud of this Case and how far we came!
