Crawford is proud to announce that three of its members, Tamara J. Titre, Makana Ellis and Jonathan E. Harding, have been elected as James W. Cooper Fellows of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.

Fellows are nominated by their peers based on their outstanding service to the profession and larger community and help further CBF’s mission to facilitate systemic change that advances civil justice for all, regardless of power or resources, to achieve a more just and equitable society.

The Fellows consist of accomplished and passionate lawyers in private practice, U.S. Court of Appeals judges, U.S. District Court judges, Connecticut Supreme, Appellate, and Superior Court judges, corporate counsel, attorneys in non-profit associations and legal services agencies, and government lawyers. The program also includes law school deans, former deans, and professors of law, past and current leadership of the Connecticut Bar Association and other bar associations, and present and former government leaders.

The Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association recently hosted its annual Diversity Dinner, an inspiring evening dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession. ⚖️✨

We were honored to hear opening remarks from Symone Trout, our Professional Development and Entrepreneurship Committee Chair.

The keynote address was delivered by Matt Ritter, Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, who shared thoughtful insights on leadership and
opportunity.

The evening also featured a distinguished panel of attorneys who offered powerful perspectives on strengthening diversity within the bar and expanding access across the profession. The discussion was moderated by Moses Beckett, our Student Mentoring Committee Chair.

Crawford was proud to serve as a sponsor of this important event. Our president, president-elect, and board members were honored to attend in support of this continued commitment to inclusion and progress.

February 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month—a powerful reminder of the importance of uplifting one another, advocating for equity and equality, and continuing to challenge and decolonize our perspectives. As we move forward, let us remain united in our efforts to strengthen our community, expand the presence of Black lawyers within the profession, and protect the rights and dignity of Black people.

While Black History Month is formally recognized in February, Black history is lived and made every day—today, tomorrow, and always.
