Angela E. Juneau, Litigation associate and and IAPP-Certified AI Governance Professional, was recently quoted in a Law360 article titled, “NJ AI Limits, Microbets, Greenhouse Gasses: Midyear Report.” The article discusses a variety of current legal topics across the state of New Jersey, including artificial intelligence and greenhouse gases. In May 2026, the Assembly Regulated Professions Committee advanced Bill A4731, which would direct professional and occupational boards to promulgate rules for licensee use of generative AI.

Juneau said the timing of the bill is “perfect.”

"Right now, people are investing unbelievable amounts of money in every industry in AI applications and AI tools. It is a perfect time, because the investment being made is at an all-time high. I mean, it's probably only going to grow," Juneau said.

Juneau also noted the lack of federal legislation around AI.

"Everyone's given the federal government a chance to step in here, and it hasn't, and so states are taking matters into their own hands," Juneau said.

Seth A. Goldberg, partner in the firm’s Litigation practice and co-chair of the Cannabis & H**p Law practice, was recently quoted in an article in Restaurant Business titled, “THC Beverages Face an Uncertain Future in the Restaurant Industry.” The article discusses how the growing THC beverage industry may face challenges as constantly changing and conflicting federal and state regulations make it difficult for restaurants to confidently offer the products.

Speaking with Restaurant Business, Goldberg said:

“State legal cannabis is federally unlawful … and that could be the same outcome with respect to state h**p THC products: federally unlawful, state legal, and being sold because there’s no federal enforcement. Federal policy with respect to state legal cannabis has been hands-off for years. Provided states are regulating THC in h**p, the policy may not differ.”

The New Jersey Supreme Court’s unanimous decision last week in State v. Myers is an important reaffirmation of the protections afforded by the conditional plea rule, and another significant appellate victory involving lawyers at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, P.C. Remi L. Spencer and Chelsea Nkrumah represented the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey (ACDL-NJ) as amicus curiae, with Spencer presenting oral arguments before the Court.

The Court held that Myers must be permitted to withdraw his felony-murder plea after prevailing on the suppression issue preserved through his conditional plea. In doing so, the Court rejected application of the more demanding Slater plea-withdrawal standard and reinforced an important principle: the protections of a conditional plea must be meaningful, and the reasonable expectations created by the parties’ plea agreement matter.

The decision also builds upon State v. Nyema (2022), the separate Supreme Court appeal that resulted in suppression of the evidence underlying Myers’s conditional plea. That successful appeal was likewise argued by lawyers at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, P.C. Darcy Baboulis-Gyscek and CJ Griffin authored the brief, which was argued by Raymond M. Brown.

Taken together, Nyema and Myers reflect what exceptional appellate advocacy can accomplish over the life of a case – from identifying and preserving an issue, to successfully challenging a search, and ensuring that the consequences of that victory are fully honored. They also reflect the depth of the appellate team at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden: lawyers working across cases and over years to develop the law, protect constitutional rights, and achieve results that extend well beyond a single client.

Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. is proud of the results it has achieved for clients. Of course, each legal matter is unique on many levels, and past successes are not a guarantee of results in any other pending or future matters.

CJ Griffin, partner and director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., recently secured a victory for journalist and public records requester Benjamin Shore and his outlet, Shore Investigates. A New Jersey Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by the Cherry Hill Board of Education seeking to restrict Shore’s ability to submit public records requests.

The school board had sought to prevent Shore from submitting public records requests for one year, alleging that his requests constituted harassment. The Judge dismissed the lawsuit under New Jersey’s Uniform Public Expression Protection Act, finding that the board failed to provide evidence that Shore acted with an improper or harassing intent.

“This is the right outcome. No public agency should sue anyone, let alone reporters, because they file an OPRA request or two a month. Public records belong to the public and no one should live in fear that they will be sued for seeking basic transparency,” said CJ Griffin.

The ruling further reinforces the protection afforded to individuals seeking government records and engaging in matters of public concern under New Jersey law.
