So this is Day 2 of rucking with a 25lb weight vest. Forces me up early, but sets the tone for the day.

Self-care is usually the first thing to go. It’s always seemed ironic to me that when we need a sound body and mind the most, we stop doing all of the things that best preserved our health. After a serious motorcycle accident on 12/26/22, I learned that being unhealthy in any respect was no longer an option. Good health became a non-negotiable for me.

In what will be a series of posts, I’d like to share some things that I have found helpful in maintaining good health. None of this should be taken as medical advice.

I’m starting with infrared sauna and cryotherapy. I currently hit the infrared sauna for 30 minutes at 130-175 degrees about 4-5 days per week. After I towel off, I then do cryotherapy for 3 minutes at -222 degrees. You can vary the times and temperatures and I think you still benefit. It’s great for your heart in particular. I do it more for the mental health benefits. It’s something hard to do and I think that’s important. I always feel better afterwards.
