Beware of scams if you have a loved one in jail or have a pending case.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT — PLEASE READ & SHARE

We are receiving multiple reports of a new scam targeting families of individuals in our custody.
Scammers are calling community members and claiming that their relative in the TCSO Jail must pay additional bond fees, ankle monitor fees, or other charges in order to be released. In many cases, the caller even references someone who is currently in our jail or was recently booked, making the scam sound convincing.

🔹 TCSO will NEVER call you to demand payment over the phone.
🔹 We do NOT request money through gift cards, payment apps, wire transfers, or phone transactions.
🔹 All legitimate bond information is handled through the courts and licensed bonding companies, not through unsolicited phone calls.

If you receive a call like this:
• Hang up immediately
• Do not provide personal or financial information
• Call your local police department or, if you live in unincorporated Tarrant County, call us at TCSO Dispatch at 817-884-1213
Your awareness helps protect our community from fraud. Please share this information with friends and family so no one falls victim to this scam. Stay vigilant, Tarrant County.

Leaving the Dallas courthouse this am, I was stopped in my tracks with so much emotion. I worked Craig’s first campaign (knocking on doors with the old school bus). He never forgot it. He would call me for strategic advice regarding the media. He was the first elected Black District Attorney in Texas. So proud of him. Miss him so. He did a lot of good things. He freed innocent people on a scale never before seen in Texas.

Judge has defense lawyer handcuffed in court- no contempt hearing. She faced criminal charges over this and is barred from ever being a judge again.

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi refused to obey a lawful subpoena before Congress on the Trump/Jeffrey Epstein hearing. I don’t know any judge who would allow a key player in an alleged pe******ia cover up to ignore a subpoena. Laws apply to EVERYONE.

So many scammers these days preying off peoples’ families when their loved one is arrested. BELIEVE NO ONE IF THEY CONTACT YOU. The State Bar does NOT allow direct solicitation, except the mail where the advertisement has been approved.

A 60-year-old man is accused of impersonating a lawyer, reaching out to people in the Tarrant County Jail, and stealing $3,000 from their family members.

After 20+ years, It is time to voluntarily step down as MSE Co-Course Director. "The true test of leadership is not how well you lead, but how gracefully you follow when it's time to step aside." —Patrick Lencioni. There are so many talented, gifted lawyers; it is indeed their time to lead.

Before MSE, I created a DWI seminar through Cowtown CLE, which was the largest DWI seminar in Texas for two years running. I dismantled it when TCDLA desired to continue in their own right. (Yea!). I have always passionately loved educating others to help. Bubba Head created MSE and gave it to the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD). NCDD chose to joint venture MSE with TCDLA. It has helped educate many. It’s been an honor to co-course direct these many years. Seminars have always been in my blood. The desire to help others in giving back (because many have helped me), has always been a guiding life force.

It has also been a true privilege to serve NCDD, including on the Board since 2012 and as Dean (2024–2025). Two more meetings and my farewell year as Dean Emeritus comes to an end. It’s been an honor.

Now it’s time for new leaders to grow and bring fresh energy to MSE and the NCDD. I’m grateful for the journey and proud of what we built together.
