Social Media Fails: You’re trying too hard.

Everyone wants more reach. More views. More engagement. More leads.

But a lot of people are doing the exact things that are hurting them.

Social media has changed.

The platforms are getting much better at putting content in front of the people they believe will actually care about it. And the content that connects? More and more, it looks like real people being real people.

Not another generic AI flyer.

Not a stock photo.

Not an AI-generated picture of you that looks like an air brushed work of art.

Not you staring slightly off-camera while reading a script.

IT NEEDS TO BE YOU.

The same person someone would meet if you walked into a room together.

And I know what you're thinking:

"I don't like the way I look on camera."

"I don't like the way I sound."

Good. Welcome to the club. And guess what.... (whispers) People like the real you.

People aren't looking for a TV personality. They're trying to figure out whether they know you, like you and trust you.

So talk about what you know.

If someone walked up to you today and asked a question about your profession, what could you answer without reaching for your phone or computer?

Talk about that.

That's your content.

You don't need to create the next viral trend. You don't need a dance. You don't need a script. (It's not making you money)

Share your knowledge the same way you'd explain it to someone sitting across the table from you.

That's one of the greatest opportunities social media gives us.

You can meet someone before you've ever actually met them.

They can hear your voice. See your personality. Learn something from you. Get comfortable with you.

And eventually they might comment, send you a message, call you or walk up to you somewhere and say:

"Hey, I follow you on social media."

That's the goal.

So here's what I want you to do:

Look at your last 20 posts.

How many likes did they get?

How many comments?

How many shares?

Now go into your insights and look at something even more important:

How many Non-Followers did you reach?

Stop obsessing over follower count.

Having more followers doesn't automatically mean more people will see your content. The platforms are trying to match content with the people they think will actually be interested in it, so you don't have to beg for followers anymore.

So give them something worth distributing.

Grab your phone.

Flip it to selfie mode.

Pick ONE thing you know really well.

Talk for 30–60 seconds.

Post it.

Then do it again a few days later.

And no, you don't necessarily need to create something every single day. If you're motivated, record five videos while you're already in the zone and schedule them throughout the week. Maybe change outfits so it doesn't look like you wear the same clothes all week.

But here's the big one:

Stop outsourcing your personality.

If you're hiring someone for social media, hire someone who will actually sit down with you, learn who you are, learn about your profession, understand your target audience and help create useful content that sounds and feels like you.

Otherwise, I'd rather see you do it yourself.

And while we're at it…

Make your profile picture a current, real, unedited photo of YOU.

Because what happens when social media actually works?

Someone eventually meets you in real life.

Wouldn't it be nice if they recognized you?

Or even better, you're standing in line at the grocery store and somebody says:

"Hey, aren't you the guy from those videos?"

That's when you know it's working.

Social media isn't about pretending to be someone people want to follow.

It's about letting enough of the real you show up that the right people decide they want to know you.

So cut the generic content.

Cut the fake perfection.

Cut the AI crap.

Turn the camera around and start talking.

🏡 Do You Know The Story Behind the St. Joseph Statue

For generations, many home sellers have turned to a unique tradition involving St. Joseph.

The custom dates back centuries and involves burying a small St. Joseph statue upside down, 3 to 12 inches deep in your yard, typically near the "For Sale" sign or facing the house that’s for sale while offering a prayer asking for guidance and a successful sale. Once the home sells, the statue is dug up and placed in a place of honor inside the new home as a symbol of gratitude.

Does it work? Some people swear by it.

While there’s no guarantee it will sell your home, it’s a tradition that has been passed from one homeowner to another for decades.

Of course, pricing your home correctly, preparing it well, and having the right Realtor® are still the biggest factors in getting it sold, but if adding a little faith to the process brings you peace of mind, many people believe it can’t hurt.

St. Joseph kits are available for purchase at the Englewood Area Board of Realtors®, if you’d like to give it a try!

Florida economy moves up to No. 14 globally
By Amy Connolly

The state's $1.8 trillion economy is now the world’s 14th largest after surpassing Australia and Mexico, according to the Florida Chamber Foundation. The foundation said Florida’s economy grew 6.3% over the past year, moving the state closer to its goal of ranking among the world’s 10 largest economies by 2030.

Florida’s $1.8 trillion economy is now the 14th largest in the world, surpassing Australia and Mexico, according to the Florida Chamber Foundation.

The new ranking, up from 15, moves Florida closer to the Florida 2030 Blueprint’s goal of becoming one of the world’s 10 largest economies by 2030.

Florida’s economy grew 6.3% over the past year, the foundation said. At its current size, the economy would need to grow about 2% to surpass South Korea and reach No. 13. Moving into the top 10 would require about 21% additional growth, with Canada currently ranked 10th.

“Florida’s rise to the world’s 14th largest economy is part of our Florida 2030 Blueprint plan and further proof that free enterprise works,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Florida Chamber Foundation. “Florida continues creating jobs, attracting investment, welcoming new businesses, and giving families greater opportunity to succeed.”

The foundation highlighted several areas in which Florida ranks among the nation’s leaders:

▪️No. 1 for new business startups
▪️No. 1 higher education system
▪️No. 1 for manufacturing job growth
▪️No. 1 for net income migration
▪️No. 1 for new business migration
▪️No. 1 for Black-owned businesses
▪️No. 2 for Hispanic- and women-owned businesses
▪️Lowest state debt per capita
▪️155,742 fewer children living in poverty since the Florida 2030 Blueprint launched

“This ranking reflects the impact of Florida’s economic growth over time,” said Sheridan Morby, the foundation’s senior director of economic research. “Strong labor market expansion and business investment continue to help position Florida among the world’s largest economies.”

The Florida Chamber Foundation plans to provide additional analysis in its 2026 Florida Business & Economic Mid-Year Report next month. The report will examine economic growth, population changes, inflation, manufacturing, workforce development and housing affordability.
