This Labor Day, our office will be closed as we take time to recognize and celebrate the hardworking people who make everything we do possible.

We are incredibly grateful for our dedicated staff, whose commitment, compassion, and hard work allow us to serve our clients every day. We are equally thankful for our clients who place their trust in us during some of life's most challenging times.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Labor Day weekend with family and friends. Thank you for being part of our community.

Eight years ago, Dustin Baker and Francis Henkels founded Henkels & Baker, PC, combining Dustin's criminal defense experience with Fran's bankruptcy experience to provide THE BEST client service to people facing debt or criminal charges. Since then, we've filed over 800 bankruptcies and helped hundreds of clients through criminal cases. We also moved to a new office, grew our team to 11 AMAZING employees, bought a karaoke machine, spent way too much time planning our halloween costumes, destroyed Dustin's office, sponsored Latinx Fiesta, dressed up for a holiday party, completed countless jigsaw puzzles, went on a boat, hired an underage employee and fostered a kitten, among other adventures. 😂 THANK YOU to every client who trusted us along the way, and THANK YOU to our amazing team. We are so proud of the work we do and we couldn't do it without YOU. 💖

What a morning we had!

Yesterday, Five of us from Henkels & Baker, PC
attended the Women’s Leadership Network of Dubuque, June Breakfast edition: “Lessons I Wish I Knew Sooner” and walked out completely inspired.

We grabbed the front table on purpose. And if you look closely, there’s Hillary, mid-panel, pointing right out at us. You know that moment when someone scans the room, finds their people, and the whole energy shifts? That’s it, caught on camera.
We wanted her to look out and know, we’re right here, we’ve got you.
That’s the kind of culture she’s built, and getting to show up for her said it all.

Our very own Hillary Baker, Director of Operations and firm owner, shared her story on a panel of amazing local women leaders. They got real about building culture, growing a team, being a true leader, and what success actually means and how all of it looks so different from what you picture when you start. So honest and so relatable.

Great conversation, wonderful connections, and a delicious breakfast buffet from Convivium Urban Farmstead.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their bravery and dedication will never be forgotten.

In their honor, we will be closed this Monday, May 26th. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 27th.
