I'm a Utah injury lawyer, and in 2020 a dog bit me. The county's records showed it had already bitten three people, including a young boy playing in the street. My case ended at $0 because the owner had no insurance and filed bankruptcy.

UDOT's crash records show 632 crashes involving a pedestrian or cyclist at Salt Lake City signalized intersections from January 2018 through August 2025. We went through the state's own data to find out where.

The worst for people on foot are two crossings on 400 South, at 200 East and at 200 West, with 10 pedestrian crashes each.

One finding we didn't expect: 16% of the pedestrian crashes at these signals were serious or fatal, compared with 7.5% for cyclists. On foot, you're about twice as likely to be badly hurt.

12 of the 15 intersections with the most pedestrian crashes involve a state or U.S. highway.
