MONCLOVA LAW
Helping our people achieve the American Dream
Law Clerk — Removal Defense & Federal Litigation
Full-Time | In-Office | Denver, Colorado
Stand between a family and a deportation order — then do it again next week.
Monclova Law is building the leading immigration and family law firm in Colorado, empowering underrepresented communities with fierce, passionate representation and fast, effective results. Our clients are parents, workers, students, and survivors who are one hearing away from losing everything. We are looking for a Law Clerk who wants that fight — someone hungry, honest, and allergic to sitting still.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Legal research: Removability and inadmissibility grounds, categorical analysis, particularly serious crime issues, changed country conditions, BIA and circuit precedent.
• Brief and motion writing: Bond motions, pre-hearing and merits briefs, motions to reopen and terminate, BIA appeals, habeas corpus petitions, and other federal court filings.
• Relief from removal: Asylum, withholding, CAT, cancellation of removal (42A/42B), adjustment, U and T visas, VAWA, waivers, and prosecutorial discretion.
• Bond hearings: Build the equity packet — sponsor letters, community ties, rehabilitation proof — and deliver a hearing-ready outline to the attorney.
• Evidence: Declarations, country conditions, expert reports, medical and criminal records — gathered, indexed, and filed on time, every time.
• Client contact: Will communicate with clients, not afraid to call a client and or their family to advise of case requirements, case progress, and gather evidence. YOU MUST keep clients genuinely informed at every stage.
• Trial prep: Exhibit binders, you must know the case well to assist attorneys in trial prep.
WHO YOU ARE
• Currently in law school (1L–3L), or you hold a J.D. or LL.M. — required.
• Hands-on removal defense experience through a clinic, internship, nonprofit, detention project, or firm.
• A clear, persuasive writer who can defend every citation in the brief.
• Honest. You say when you do not know, and you own a mistake the same day.
• You genuinely like talking to clients — your voice is often the calmest part of their week.
• You work hard and you finish. You do not need to be chased or reminded into caring.
• Spanish fluency strongly.
WE WILL MENTOR YOU — AND YOU CAN GROW HERE
You will learn a tremendous amount. Our attorneys teach: you get direct feedback on your writing, courtroom exposure, and real responsibility rather than busywork. We hire clerks we hope to keep. If you want to build a career here — as an associate, and beyond — there is a path, and we will invest in you to walk it.
OUR CULTURE — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
