Today, on Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the original stewards of the lands we now call Colorado, including the Ute, Arapaho, Cheyenne, and many other Indigenous peoples whose histories, cultures, and contributions continue to shape our communities.

We recognize and pay homage to Indigenous traditions that view land not as a commodity to be owned, but as a shared resource to be cared for and passed on to future generations. Their enduring example of stewardship, reciprocity, and collective responsibility continues to inspire our work toward expanding access to affordable homeownership and building stronger communities.

We are so honored to have had David Ogunsanya as a leader, innovator, friend, and mentor at Elevation Community Land Trust. David has been at ECLT since it's inception in 2018, helping to create and steward hundreds of permanently affordable homes. ECLT is enormously grateful for all of the incredible work David has done for our organization and ECLT homeowners. Colorado is a more inclusive and welcoming place to live thanks to David's significant contribution to affordable housing across the state. Above all, David centers human connection, going out of his way to ensure everyone he encounters feels seen.

Though David will be incredibly missed, we wish him all the best on his next adventure as the new Executive Director of the Atlanta Land Trust!
