Concerned Monday!! ๐Ÿง IT'S WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY!๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿฆณ
Creator | C. Knighten | Sozo Digital Media

Every year, millions of older adults around the world experience abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. Sadly, most cases go unreported and worse, many go completely unnoticed..... even by people who genuinely love and care for them.๐Ÿ˜ณ

That's what makes this issue so difficult to address. Elder abuse doesn't always look the way we imagine it. We tend to think that it will be obvious, but the reality is often far more subtle, and far closer to home than most of us would like to believe.

It can look like an older parent who suddenly seems withdrawn or anxious. A grandparent who appears fearful around a family member or caregiver. An elder who, without clear explanation, no longer has access to their own finances. It can look like isolation......you know, slowly being cut off from the friends, family, and community they once had. It can even look like neglect.....basic needs going unmet, medical care being withheld, dignity being quietly stripped away.

The World Health Organization estimates that between 4-6% of older adults experience some form of abuse. With the global population of people aged 60 and over expected to reach 1.4 billion by 2030, this is not a small issue. It is a growing one, which deserves our full attention.

Our elders are the people who built our communities, fought in wars, raised our families. They are the very people who shaped who we are.....and every single one of them deserves to live out their years with safety, dignity, and love. They deserve to be seen. They deserve to be protected.

Protecting them starts with awareness and open, honest conversations. It starts with each one of us being willing to pay attention and speak up when something doesn't feel or look right.

If you suspect that an older adult in your life or someone you know could be experiencing abuse or neglect, please don't stay silent.
๐Ÿ“ž Eldercare Locator: 1-800-677-1116
๐ŸŒ Adult Protective Services for Alabama: 1-800-458-7214. The hotline is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

This isn't about you knowing there is abuse....this is about you caring enough to ensure there isn't any! Awareness is the first step..... someone in your circle may need to see this message, so please share this far and wide!

Always know that "We appreciate you, appreciate each other!" ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, by now, for those who follow us weekly, you are quite aware that we love Star Trek....however, were you aware that we are also fans of ensuring that kids read?

Surprise.....yes, reading is a fundamental skill that every child around the world should be taught. More importantly, having access to books that are age appropriate and entertaining are the keys to getting kids to read. While electronics are an easy way to entertain your children.......and yes, they do help develop skills that may be used later in life (depending on the games)....reading is a primary skill that everyone should have.

HOW TO GET YOUR KIDS TO READ?
๐Ÿ‘ถStart when they are young.....read to them. Whether it is a story at bedtime or anytime. Reading to your child is healthy for you both. Giving your child your undivided attention tells them they are important and builds a close relationship!
๐ŸซTake them to your local library. Help them discover books about topics that they enjoy.....Baseball, Dinosaurs, Automobiles, Gardening....there are many different subjects that will grab their interest!!!
โฐSet aside a specific time for them to read. Yes, getting them away from their Nintendo or PlayStation ๐ŸŽฎmay be a challenge, but it is important for their development and overall academic life, that they learn to read and comprehend what they are reading. This skill, is one they will use the rest of their life!

TWO GREAT RESOURCES INCLUDE:
๐ŸซOur local library! Theie DPL Summer Reads is already in full swing! Be sure to sign up your child up....all the way up to age 17.... into their Reader Zone app. Visit www.myDPL.org/SummerReads to sign up or check out their QR code online.
No library card required, so visitors are welcome as well!
๐Ÿ’ปConsider Splash.Learn.....and online program with age appropriate games for reading and math skills for ages 2-11!!

Personally, I still pick up a book ๐Ÿ“•to read....while I know there are many who use their tablet or even listen to audio books....I prefer the feel of a book...love turning the pages, and marking my place with a favorite bookmark!! ๐Ÿค“

However, you decide to keep your kids busy this summer, try to incorporate reading....they will appreciate this skill for the rest of their lives!! Oh, and lastly.....we hope that Piccard never writes this book.....LOL!!๐Ÿคฃ

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend....and as always, please remember,"We appreiate you, appreciate each other!"๐Ÿ˜€

Happy Wednesday!! ๐Ÿ˜€ IT'S NATIONAL BUSINESS ETIQUETTE WEEK!!๐Ÿ‘ฉ
Creator | C. Knighten | Sozo Digital Media, LLC

If you are a Realtor, this one's for you! A hard truth the real estate industry doesn't talk about enough: your market knowledge, your listings, and your negotiation skills will get you in the game. But how you "show up"....how you dress, how you communicate, how you treat every single person in the room .....is what builds a career that lasts.

Clients don't just hire the most knowledgeable agent. They hire the one they trust. The one who made them feel respected. The one who called them back!๐Ÿค“

GREAT ETIQUETTE RULES THAT SET THE PROFESSIONAL REALTORS APART:
โฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฐ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿง”โ€โ™‚๏ธALWAYS BE ON TIME: Showing up late to a showing, a closing, or a client meeting sends a message you don't want to send. Punctuality is professionalism, and in real estate, first impressions are everything.
๐Ÿ‘—DRESS FOR SUCCESS: YOU are your brand. Fron first-time buyers to presenting luxury listings, how you present yourself signals the level of service your client can expect.
๐Ÿ“ฒMASTER YOUR COMMUNICATION: Return calls and texts promptly. Write professional emails. Keep clients informed even when there's nothing new to report โ€” silence is anxiety for a buyer or seller waiting on news.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”งTREAT EVERYONE WITH EQUAL RESPECT. Every buyer, every seller, every person involved, deserves your full attention and respect. Intercultural awareness and sensitivity aren't optional in today's diverse marketplace.....they're essential.
๐Ÿ’ŒALL TOUCHPOINTS REQUIRE GOOD MANNERS! Say thank you to clients and everyone involved in the transaction. Small gestures build a great reputation...consider handwritten notes after closing to create lifetime clients and referrals.
๐Ÿง”โ€โ™‚๏ธRESPECT OTHER AGENTS: Real estate is a relationship business, and your colleagues today are your referral partners tomorrow!

Etiquette is important in all aspects of bulsiness, from the Realtor, to the Home Inspector to...Yes, your closing attorney. We believe in giving the highest level of service to our realtors and their clienst at all times.....in fact our motto expresses this: "We appreciate you, appreciate each other!"

Have a great day and reach out if you need us!๐Ÿ˜€

Happy Monday!! ๐Ÿ˜€ IT'S NATIONAL LITTLE LEAGUE WEEK! โšพ๏ธ
Creator | C. Knighten | Sozo Digital Media, LLC

If you've ever stood on a dusty outfield, nervously gripped a bat at the plate, or cheered from the bleachers until your voice gave out, then you have a deep-seated love ๐Ÿฅฐfor baseball! โšพ

More than 80 years ago, a man named Carl Stotz watched his nephews run around wanting to play baseball with no organized place to do it. So in 1939, he and his wife Grayce, along with his brothers George and Bert Bebble, did what great community builders do .....they created one. They raised funds, found sponsors, rounded up equipment, and on June 6th, the first Little League game was played on an old lot in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

What once was small, is now a worldwide sport with more than 80 countries supporting Little League Teams in their communities.

However, Little League was never really just about baseball. In 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared National Little League Baseball Week an official observance. Why you ask..... because he understood that what happens between those baselines goes far beyond the game itself.

The values learned on that field build Character, develop Courage and overtime Loyalty.... becomes the result of a team that strives and plays together to achieve a goal. These are characteristics that help develop kids into great adults!

LITTLE LEAGUES DIVERSE UNIVERSE:
While Little League was orginally founded and played by little boys.....by 1974 it grew with the times and girls were welcomed in the league, opening the diamond to everyone. In 1990, the Challenger Division was created to include children with mental and physical disabilities....because no kid should be left off the field. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Today, Little League has junior, senior, and big league divisions, along with softball, giving young athletes of every age and every ability a place to belong.

From humble beginnings with that first pitch in 1939, this game has become something far bigger than just a way to play some baseball. It started a tradition of community, inclusion, and character-building that has shaped generations!

So this week, cheer a little louder. High-five a little harder. And if you know a young player....share how this game started. And if you have a niece or nephew who isn't familiar with baseball.....sit down and watch one of my all time favorite movies.....The Sandlot!!โšพ๏ธ

Have a great day and remember," We appreciate you, appreciate each other!"๐Ÿ˜€

Without a doubt, I love the awesome Star Trek memes and punnies, that others create and share. Some of them are quite hysterical....and though there are many with Picard and #1.....I am still loyal to the originals.....Captain Kirk and Spock. ๐Ÿ––

I mean, I started watching the original series when I was 5 years old. Yes, it premiered on September 8, 1966, on NBC...I turned 6 on the 20th of that month....so you could say I was indoctrinated into loving it! While this punny has not a thing whatsoever to do with the original series, it does have a point to make.

"Dressing the part" carries more leverage than people think!

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT:
๐Ÿ”ธENCLOTHED COGNITION: Studies show that wearing specific clothing alters your psychological state and, in turn.... improves performance. Like, wearing activewear primes you for a workout.... a nice suit can help you adopt a more authoritative, focused mindset.
๐Ÿ”ธDOPAMINE ATTIRE:
Colors, textures, and even styles of clothing can actively stimulate your brain's reward system.... improving your mood, your emotional energy and helps you feel more confident.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT:
๐Ÿ”ธINSTANT CREDIBILITY: Visual Cues...they are every where, from color to how people respond to certain types of attire. There are studies on personal branding built around how people perceive uniforms, other professional clothing, and the assumption that a person in a suit is an authority or executive.
๐Ÿ”ธFIRST IMPRESSIONS:
In any and all professional environments, for example a job interview... dressing appropriately communicates respect, signals you take the position seriously, and elevates your personal brand.
๐Ÿ”ธENHANCED PERFORMANCE:
Experts in human behavior, state that dressing appropriately for a presentation or speaking engagement, especially when you match your audience will mentally prepare you to "show up" and deliver.

NOTE there is also something called "Method Dressing"! This technique is often adopted by public figures and actors, and actually aids them in character development and creates a clear and recognizable persona.

Last, but not least......the old addage, "You only get one chance to make a great First Impression", is often the standard many people subconciously live by. Truthfullty, they don't even know they are doing it, but they are...so keep that in mind when getting ready for your next presentation!!

We wish you a great Friday and wonderful weekend....and no matter what you are wearing, "We appreciate you, appreciate each other!" ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
