Where is the outrage?

Where is the trembling fury when a woman is controlled, mocked, threatened, diminished, and spiritually crushed in her own home?

Where is the grief when her children grow up breathing fear through the walls?

Where is the alarm when Scripture is twisted into rope and tied around her voice?

Too often, the outrage is reserved for her.

Her tone.
Her leaving.
Her boundaries.
Her refusal to stay quiet.

But where is the outrage for what he did?

Where is the outrage for the years he stole, the trust he shattered, the faith he contaminated, the children he harmed, the woman he hollowed out while everyone called it a marriage?

Where is our outrage?

Leaving is courageous.

Leaving is hard.

Living is harder.

What’s one goal you can cross off the to-do list?

Would one of them be to finish your Will and get your piece of peace?

Do you ever feel like things don’t make sense to you? Or maybe you feel uncertain in moments that make you feel down. Maybe even “why am I here?” Let’s take a look at Isaiah 64:8:

“But now,

the work
of your hand.”

The Lord is your Creator.
He created you in His image.
There is not a single thing He does not know about you.
He goes before you, and He goes with you, wherever you go.
The Lord is your keeper.
We are His masterpiece.
He only wants to have a relationship with us.

His door is always open for you, friend.

Let’s pray for opportunities to see His work around us, and in us. For He created us for such a time as this.

God hates abuse.

He did not design marriage for abuse.

Shattered is what happens when the people who should have protected you ask you to explain the wreckage while you are still bleeding from it.

When they stand over the broken glass of your life and ask if you are sure it was really that bad.

When they tell you what God hates, but ignore what nearly destroyed you.

When they warn you not to become bitter, while bitterness is not what is choking you.

Grief is. Terror is. Betrayal is.

When they say it is not abuse because he did not hit you, as if words cannot bruise the soul, as if control cannot crush the breath out of a woman.

Shattered is not just what he did.

It is what happened when they protected him and blamed you.

Leaving is courageous.

Leaving is hard.

Living is harder.

We all project in some way.

Sure, we know that liars and manipulators project their own schemes onto others. But it goes the other way too... and that trips us up when we're on the loving and giving end of the spectrum!

If you've got a tender conscience... you're likely to project your own gentle, honest, loyal goodness onto others who have none of these traits.

You can't control (or love) another person into doing the right thing.

In fact, when we truly, deeply respect the freewill and autonomy of others — it requires that we stop projecting our own good intentions on others. We have to step back from the fallout zone and allow the other person to pursue the choices they pursue... even if their choices ultimately lead to destruction.

If we want to live in freedom, we have to grant freedom to others as well... even if we don't like what they do with it.
(And even if it means we exercise our own freedom to withdraw from the relationship for safety.)

Today, we remember and honor those who gave the greatest sacrifice for our freedom.

We thank those who laid their lives down for us to be free. We thank their families for raising them up strong to enlist. We thank you.

Let’s pray over the brave soldiers, their families, and loved ones, who have been impacted.

Happy Memorial Day, friends.

And always, God bless the U S of A.

We see you, friend. ❤️‍🩹

The same man who wears his Christianity like a polished badge can be the one starving his own wife of safety.

Everyone knows him as generous.
The man who would give the shirt off his back.
The first to help. The first to serve. The first to pray.

But at home, his kindness has limits.

He controls the bank account.
Doles out grocery money like a warden handing bread through bars.
Makes her account for every dollar, every receipt, every need, until buying milk feels like asking permission to breathe.

And when she finally leaves?

He hides the money.
Empties what he can.

Leaves her standing in the wreckage with nothing but children, fear, and a system that asks her to prove what he spent years concealing.

Then he files for custody.

Not because he has loved them well, but because it's another way to hurt her.

And somehow, he still believes he is a godly man.

This is what God hates.
Not divorce.

Leaving is courageous.

Leaving is hard.

Living is harder.
