Congratulations to DP&S associate Aditi Deal on representing the firm at the inaugural Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit Appellate Oral Advocacy Competition in New Orleans.
Aditi teamed up with Texas First Court of Appeals staff attorney Mason Malone for the competition, which brought together young appellate lawyers from some of the region’s most prominent firms and government offices to develop their advocacy skills.

Congratulations to DPS attorney Tammy Holt and the entire Durham, Pittard & Spalding appellate team on securing a significant victory in the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals in a wrongful death construction-site case involving negligent entrustment of a forklift and gross negligence claims.
The court reversed the trial court’s summary dismissal and remanded the case for further proceedings, allowing the plaintiffs’ claims to move forward.
We’re also grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Steve Dummitt and Landon Hays at The Carlson Law Firm in pursuing justice for the Hernandez family.

A unanimous U.S. Supreme Court ruling has closed a loophole that allowed freight brokers to avoid liability for negligently hiring unsafe trucking companies.
The landmark decision in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, LLC confirms that freight brokers may be held accountable under state negligence laws.
Durham, Pittard & Spalding partners Roz Bienvenu and Justin Kaufman drafted an amicus brief on behalf of American Truckers United supporting the position ultimately adopted by the Court.
