We’re proud to announce the launch of our new name: Durham, Pittard, Spalding, Kaufman & Hollingsworth.
The addition of Justin Kaufman and Lara Hollingsworth as named partners reflects their substantial contributions to the growth of our firm to 16 attorneys with offices in Dallas, Houston and Santa Fe — and the expanding depth of our appellate practice.
The name is new. Our commitment to providing experienced appellate counsel and working alongside trial lawyers remains the same.

Durham, Pittard & Spalding partner Rick Thompson recently helped secure a favorable outcome before the Texas Supreme Court in a healthcare-related privilege dispute involving access to evidence in a sexual assault case.
The Court’s Sept. 9 ruling allows lower-court orders requiring a hospital to produce documents concerning the alleged assault to stand, allowing discovery in the underlying healthcare liability lawsuit to move forward.
Rick handled the appellate matter alongside trial counsel Beth S. Janicek and Kristian Joy Barrientes.

Congratulations to DP&S associate Aditi Deal on representing the firm at the inaugural Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit Appellate Oral Advocacy Competition in New Orleans.
Aditi teamed up with Texas First Court of Appeals staff attorney Mason Malone for the competition, which brought together young appellate lawyers from some of the region’s most prominent firms and government offices to develop their advocacy skills.
We’re proud of Aditi’s commitment to developing her appellate skills and her active involvement in the broader appellate community.

Congratulations to DPS attorney Tammy Holt and the entire Durham, Pittard & Spalding appellate team on securing a significant victory in the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals in a wrongful death construction-site case involving negligent entrustment of a forklift and gross negligence claims.
The court reversed the trial court’s summary dismissal and remanded the case for further proceedings, allowing the plaintiffs’ claims to move forward.
We’re also grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Steve Dummitt and Landon Hays at The Carlson Law Firm in pursuing justice for the Hernandez family.
